Luiz (groin) was available off the bench for Tuesday's Champions League match against Galatasaray.

Luiz did not end up playing in the match, but it was certainly good news that he was available. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks in training this week, he will likely be okay to face Arsenal on Saturday.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Despite playing 63 minutes of Wednesday's international friendly in South Africa, Luiz has been ruled out of Saturday's Premier League match against Tottenham due to a groin injury, the Daily Mail reports. Manager Jose Mourinho said ‘We are not this kind of club who won't send players off to their national teams if they are injured. We want the players to have the pride to play for their national team. They go with problems, sometimes. David was injured with us and missed some important matches, like Galatasaray when he was not ready. But he went to the national team injured."

Fantasy owners who were encouraged by Luiz's play Wednesday are surely disappointed that the defender won't be available in a Premier League gameweek that features only 10 teams playing due to FA Cup conflicts.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Luiz (muscle injury) is in the squad for Chelsea's Champions League match at Galatasaray on Wednesday, reports.

Luiz was held out of last weekend's Premier League match against Everton, but was always expected to have a shot at playing in Turkey. He'd be a nice boost in the middle of the field for the Blues, who will be without Nemanja Matic (cup tied to Benfica).

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Luiz will not play in Saturday's Premier League match against Everton due to a muscle injury, Sky Sports reports. However, he is still expected to make the trip for Wednesday's Champions League match at Galatasaray.

A tough break for fantasy owners, especially considering how quickly Luiz will be ready to play again. Nevertheless, John Terry is expected to be back this weekend, which should lessen some of the blow from Luiz's absence.

Luiz picked up an assist and a yellow card during Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

Luiz was headed for a decent fantasy day, with the assist and a clean sheet through 80 minutes. Unfortunately, the next 10 saw him nab the yellow card and then allow a goal to Victor Anichebe, washing out his shutout. Chelsea have a few tough fixtures coming up, with Man City on Saturday in the FA Cup, followed by Everton at Stamford Bridge on February 22.
