Cleverley attempted a pair of shots and provided an assist in his lone key pass in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Newcastle.

The 26-year-old was influential as a distributor despite his pedestrian-looking stats, but he was able to provide a couple of highlights: a subtle touch to Aaron Lennon that led to the opening goal as well as a crafty free kick that almost curled inside the post. Cleverley has factored into just three goals in 10 league starts this season, but all of them have come in his last five matches, and he could be a sneaky buy-low fantasy option if he can remain involved in the potent Toffees attack. Stoke is next on the docket.

Cleverley (calf) is available off the bench Saturday against Chelsea.

Cleverley was held out of Everton's midweek match against Man City due to the ailment, and he's apparently not fit enough to get the start Saturday, though manager Roberto Martinez is using a bit of squad rotation, with Gerard Deulofeu and Arouna Kone also on the bench.

Cleverley (calf) is out Wednesday against Manchester City.

Manager Roberto Martinez rated Cleverley as 50-50 to play, but he apparently failed a late fitness test, which means his next opportunity to play will come Saturday against Chelsea.

Cleverley (calf) will undergo a late fitness test for Wednesday's match against Manchester City. Manager Roberto Martinez said Cleverley "is rated 50-50 for the squad tomorrow. We will assess him today, he had some general work yesterday with the medical department and it’s a bit early to know if he’s going to be available. We don’t expect it to be too long."

Cleverley was injured against Spurs at the beginning of the month and aggravated the injury in the team's League Cup fixture—also against City—forcing him to sit out of the team's FA Cup clash over the weekend. If he can go, he might slide into the starting XI, although at limited fitness, he could be available off the bench. After a slow start to the season, also plagued by injury, Cleverley has a goal and an assist in his past three Premier League matches.

Cleverley was forced to leave Wednesday's match versus Manchester City in the first half after aggravating a calf injury.

The 26-year-old first sustained the injury during the Jan. 3 match against Tottenham, and he was unable to continue after it flared up again just three days later. He should be considered questionable ahead of Saturday's FA Cup match versus Dag & Red, with next week's Premier League rematch against City representing a more plausible return date.

Cleverley is questionable to play Sunday against Spurs after suffering an Achilles injury Monday against Stoke City.

Cleverley came on during Monday's match in place of the injured James McCarthy (groin), and with the latter already ruled out for Sunday's match, Cleverley's return to fitness is even more important for the Toffees.

Cleverley tallied an assist off the bench, but was subbed off a minute later in Monday's 4-3 defeat to Stoke City.

Cleverley came on for James McCarthy in the opening half-hour after he went down with an apparent injury and proved his worth in the side with a fantastic assist from 30-yards out to Romelu Lukaku in the 64th minute. However, he came off a minute later in favor of Steven Naismith due to an apparent injury. It's unclear what the reason for his removal was, but his first season in Liverpool has been something of a disappointment, scoring one goal and picking up one assist in 12 matches across all competitions.
