Caulker (back) is available off the bench Sunday against Aston Villa.

Kolo Toure will partner with Mamadou Sakho in central defense, with Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren both sidelined by injuries. A spot on the bench does little for Caulker's fantasy value.

Caulker is available to play Sunday against Aston Villa after recovering from a back injury, manager Jurgen Klopp said Friday.

Caulker was held out of last weekend's match against West Ham due to back stiffness, but he returned to full training Thursday, which opened up the possibility that he could play Sunday. It's unclear how good his match fitness is, but he could get a start given that Martin Skrtel (hamstring) and Dejean Lovren (hamstring) are both out, leaving either Caulker or Kolo Toure to start alongside Mamadou Sakho.

Caulker ended his loan with Southampton on Tuesday and will join Liverpool for the rest of the season.

Liverpool are in a full-blown injury crisis in central defense, as Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel are out, while Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure are being forced to play through ailments. Caulker could slot right into the starting XI, with a potential debut coming Wednesday against Arsenal.

Caulker took two shots, both on target, and recorded a clean sheet while playing the full 90 minutes of Sunday's scoreless draw with Watford.

After sitting out the team's first two fixtures, Caulker played the full 90 minutes and saw out the scoreless draw against the newly-promoted side. After a strong season for Queens Park Rangers last season, Caulker will look to provide help along Southampton's back-three.

Caulker has been ruled out for Saturday's match against Everton because of an illness.

The severity of the illness was not disclosed, but Saints likely will continue to use the centerback duo of Jose Fonte and Maya Yoshida.

Caulker will spend the 2015/16 Premier League season on loan at Southampton.

The Saints have had some significant changeover in their back line this summer, with Toby Alderweireld heading to Tottenham and Nathaniel Clyne to Liverpool, giving Caulker plenty of opportunity for playing time right away. If Southampton can be as good defensively as they were last season, he could be a solid fantasy option in leagues that prioritize clean sheets.

Southampton are interested in bringing Caulker to the club on loan this season, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports suggest that Southampton would also attempt to make the loan agreement a permanent transfer. Caulker also has interest from West Brom.
