Lamela took two shots, both on goal, and scored his first Premier League goal in Tottenham's 2-1 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Lamela came into the match as the highest-priced player to ever come into the Premier League and not score a goal, but that unflattering moniker is now behind him. Manager Mauricio Pochettino went back to his attacking midfield trio of Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen, moving forward Roberto Soldado to the bench, and Lamela surely stands to benefit if the Argentine manager sticks to the plan. Up next is a Boxing Day trip to face Leicester City.

Lamela is not expected to play again this season due to his ongoing thigh injury, Goal.com reports. "He's probably not going to play this season," manager Tim Sherwood said Friday. "He's been out a very long time; he's going to need a pre-season before he can play.

Lamela, who came over from AS Roma in a €30 million transfer last summer, has been the definition of a disappointment, with injuries stealing most of his season. He has appeared in only nine Premier League games this season, recording one assist, which came back on September 22 against Cardiff, and zero goals.

Manager Tim Sherwood indicated Friday that he has no idea when Lamela (thigh/back) will be able to return, according to the Tottenham Journal. “He’s injured. He’s had a thigh injury and he’s got a niggle in his back. “They [the medical staff] keep monitoring the situation and I keep asking from an update, and they keep telling me that we’ll just have to investigate a little bit further. Hopefully we’re making progress, I couldn’t put a time on it."

Lamela has been an incredibly big disappointment for Spurs, after the club paid €30 million to AS Roma for his transfer last summer. He has appeared in only nine Premier League games, with his last appearance coming back on December 29, and he's taken only eight shots all season. A continued absence from multiple injuries is surely not helping his cause in the eyes of Sherwood, who has gotten comfortable with Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor up front.
