Naughton has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday's win over Hull City, The Guardian reports.

Naughton was injured on a David Meyler tackle that resulted in the latter being shown a straight red card. Naughton has been a consistent starter at right back since signing from Tottenham in January, but Angel Rangel will likely retake the role for the final weeks of the season.

Naughton officially signed with Swansea City on Thursday after transferring from Spurs.

Naughton has found regular playing time hard to come by with Spurs, and he got even more competition after the recent addition of DeAndre Yedlin. While a starting spot with Swansea isn't guaranteed, he'll at least have a better shot at consistent playing time.

Naughton started but only got through 29 minutes, as he was handed a red card for a handball in Tottenham's 1-0 win over West Ham on Saturday.

In a London rivalry, red cards are much more likely and that proved to be the case in this game with red cards handed to both teams. Naughton is not necessarily a regular starter, so this may not bode well for his future. Spurs were able to recover though, managing to grab a clean sheet and a win in a tough spot.

After bringing Adrian Mariappa and Chris Gunter onboard over the last few days, manager Brian McDermott has submitted a 4 million bid to Tottenham for Naughton, The Daily Mirror reports.

The Reading boss' summer splurge apparently isn't over, as he wants to use every last cent at his disposal to prepare his side for its Premier League campaign. Although the 23 year old Naughton has only featured for Tottenham once in his career, he had a successful year long loan at Norwich City, helping the side to a 12th place finish in its first Premiership campaign. Blocked by Kyle Walker at Tottenham, Naughton would step into the first choice right fullback role at Reading. While he may not offer a goalscoring threat, he would be a reliable back four player.
