Chico announced Saturday that he is leaving Swansea City to join Qatari side Lekhwiya, reports.

Chico, who had a number of on-field incidents while at Swansea, will be reunited with former Swans manager Michael Laudrup. He was a decent fantasy defender last season, but owners will have to look for a replacement unless they're in a Qatari league game.

Chico Flores was on the shelf Tuesday during the Exeter friendly with a bruised back, Swansea's Official Site reports.

Chico Flores' time on the bench is likely the product of a short layover considering that Swansea played another friendly Sunday against Plymouth. Despite the injury, the defender stands a good chance at joining the Jack's starting back line when they face Manchester United on Aug. 16.

Chico returned from his suspension by playing all 90 minutes in Swansea's 2-3 loss to Everton on Saturday.

Chico is a mainstay in the Swansea defense and should see plenty of minutes down the stretch. The Spainard's value lies with clean sheets which have been hard to come by for the Swans this campaign.

Chico was given a red card for taking down Crystal Palace's Glenn Murray in the box during Sunday's 1-1 draw.

Replays showed the tackle occurred just outside the box, but Murray was given a penalty kick, which clinched a 1-1 draw. As a result of the red card, Chico will now miss multiple matches for Swansea, who are only give points out of the relegation zone.

Chico scored in the 75th minute of Swansea's 2-0 victory over Fulham on Tuesday.

Chico doesn't get on the scoresheet often but found himself in a fortunate position to flick home Jonathan De Guzman's free kick. After a week where the Spanish defender was in the news for a training ground scuffle, it is a good sign to see him put it behind him and focus on keeping The Swans clear of relegation.
