Kone got the start for the injured Romelu Lukaku (hamstring) Saturday and grabbed an assist in the 1-0 win over Burnley.

Kone is a favorite of manager Roberto Martinez and it's nice to see him playing well after dealing with serious knee injuries the past two seasons. unfortunately for Kone, hr will likely return to a bench role next Sunday against Manchester United as Lukaku is due back very soon.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Kone (knee) is starting Saturday against Southampton.

Kone was deemed fit to play Thursday, but he'll get the start in place of Romelu Lukaku, who is out with a hamstring injury. While Kone will get a solid amount of playing time, it's a tough matchup against a very strong defense.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Kone is available for Saturday's match against Southampton after recovering from a knee injury.

Kone could be headed for a start, with Romelu Lukaku continuing to deal with a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, it would come against one of the strongest defensive squads in the Premier League, making him a huge dart-throw in most formats.

Kone got a rare start and was able to score in the 3-2 loss to Newcastle Sunday.

Lukaku had started the past four matches in a two week span, so the start for Kone was no surprise. Kone was subbed off in the 72nd minute for Lukaku, so he clearly made the best use of his limited time. The blonde Nigerian had a fine game, getting off three shots and completing nearly 96% of his passes along with snatching the opening goal. Everton may look to start the striker again come next Thursday as Lukaku has been in a but of a slump as of late.

Kone continues to work his way back form a torn ACL, but manager Roberto Martinez said Tuesday he still needs to work on his fitness. "Arouna has already been working with the team and sometimes joining in with 11-a-side situations, which is very promising," Martinez said. "But he still needs a bit of time to adapt to the physicality and the needs of the competition."

Kone missed most of last season with a torn ACL and even when he does return, he isn't likely to see much playing time in Premier League matches ahead of Romelu Lukaku.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Kone missed the majority of the 2013 season due to an ACL injury, but is close to being fully fit and looks to prove himself to Everton fans this upcoming season.

Kone had a successful stint with Wigan two years ago grabbing 11 goals and 5 assists, but will likely have trouble finding playing time with the recent signing of Romelu Lukaku. Keep an eye on Kone though as he can definitely fill the void for Lukaku if he is to miss any time. Kone played under manager Roberto Martinez at Wigan as well, so it's clear Kone is a favorite of Martinez, but it remains to be seen what exactly will happen with the 30 year old striker.

Kone is hoping to return to full training within a month. He has been out since October after having surgery on his knee to repair cartilage damage.

While it is unlikely Kone will make any impact this season, he is looking to next season to reward manager Roberto Martinez and the Everton fans for their faith and patience with him. Kone followed Martinez to Everton from Wigan and was hopingl to help contribute on the attack. Injuries and the signing of Romelu Lukaku on loan have decreased any fantasy value Kone was hoping to have this season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Kone is expected to undergo knee surgery and could potentially miss the rest of the 2013-14 Premier League season, reports the Liverpool Echo. Everton manager Roberto Martinez fears the worst after an exam revealed Kone had loose cartilage in his knee that needs repaired. However, he has not been ruled out for the rest of the season yet but an exact return date will not be known until after surgery.

Kone followed Martinez from Wigan to Everton in hopes of improving the Everton attack. However, with the signing of Romelu Lukaku, Kone made only five appearances as a substitute before getting injured against Hull in mid-October.
