Sterling officially signed a five-year contract with Manchester City on Tuesday after transferring from Liverpool. The transfer fee of 49 million is a record fee for an English player and the biggest transfer in club history.

Sterling has wanted out of Liverpool for quite some time and he finally got his wish after Man City increased their bid after two failed attempts. He will join an extremely talented attacking force and could be an excellent fantasy option this season, particularly now that he doesn't have the full attack responsibility on his shoulders.

Sterling will sign with Manchester City after the club's 49 million bid was accepted by Liverpool, the BBC reports.

Man City reportedly had two smaller bids rejected, but they finally decided to pony up the money for the young England international. Sterling did not travel with Liverpool on their preseason tour with the expectation that he would join Man City, though the deal has not been officially announced yet. He'll have plenty of talent around him at the Etihad, and he may actually perform better than he did at Anfield because he won't have to lead the attack on his own.

Sterling is expected to undergo a medical at Manchester City on Monday ahead of a potential transfer deal, reports Sky Sports.

Sterling refused to travel with the club for its preseason tour in order to stay home to focus on a potential transfer. It appears as though that deal is moving closer with the medical scheduled.

Sterling told Liverpool officials that he would be staying in England instead of joining the squad on its asian tour, reports the Daily Mail.

The midfielder is working to force a move away from the club, and staying in England would allow him to work on transfer opportunities. Manchester City has made two offers, but Liverpool continues to hold out for a larger offer.

Sterling had a frustrating season for Liverpool, as he managed just seven goals and seven assists in 43 appearances.

The 20-year-old wasn't nearly as prolific as he was last season, when he scored nine goals in 10 fewer league starts, but was used at an unfamiliar wing back position at times and struggled to adjust. Sterling's future at Liverpool is in jeopardy as he has put off signing a new contract and has drawn serious interest from several top Premier League clubs.

Despite reports that he will not sign a new contract with Liverpool, manager Brendan Rodgers said Friday that Sterling will be available for Sunday's match against Stoke City.

Things appear to have gotten ugly between Sterling and the club, with his agent publicly stating that Sterling wouldn't sign a contract even if it paid 900,000 per week. Sterling has shown flashes of brilliance in his young career, but it's possible that he believes he's outgrown Liverpool and will need to take his talents elsewhere to reach his potential.

Sterling is understood to be making a decision about his future by this Friday, and is due to meet manager Brendan Rogers and executive Ian Ayre at that time. More will be known after that meeting, but his current contract still has two years remaining.
