Yanga-Mbiwa tallied a clean sheet, four clearances and a yellow card on two fouls in Friday's win over Caen.

Despite a strong defensive effort from Lyon, Yanga-Mbiwa was fairly quiet. He isn't likely to be a dominant fantasy option this season in leagues that give points for peripheral stats, but he should get a decent number of clean sheets.

Yanga-Mbiwa kept a clean sheet in Sunday's 3-0 victory over Nancy.

The French centre-half struggled in his season at Roma, but found good form toward the end of last season for Lyon. After struggling against PSG (something nearly all teams in Ligue 1 do), Yanga-Mbiwa was assured at the back in their opening day victory over the newly-promoted Nancy. Yanga-Mbiwa and the rest of the Lyon back-four will look to make it two-in-a-row Friday evening against Caen.

AS Roma has sold the center back to Lyon, less than a year after the club acquired him, Football Italia reports.

Yanga-Mbiwa was a bad investment for Roma. Luckily another club was willing to pay slightly more for his services.

The defender has made his 20th appearance with Roma, which means the club will be required to purchase the player who has been on loan from Newcastle, Football Italia reports.

Yanga-Mbiwa has been pressed into action due to a number of injuries in Roma's defense.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Yanga-Mbiwa returned from an ankle injury to start and play all 90 minutes of Roma's 2-0 win over Cagliari on Saturday, his first clean sheet with the Italian club.

Roma are decimated by injuries right now but now that Yanga-Mbiwa is fit, he should be good for a number of clean sheets given their excellent defensive methods.

Roma has added Yanga-Mbiwa as it looks to build depth to its roster, Football Italia reports.

Roma is already solid in the back and this will only make the squad deeper.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Yanga-Mbiwa has picked up a knock and is now doubtful for Newcastle's opener against the champions Manchester City on Sunday, Lee Ryder of the Chronicle reports.

Yanga-Mbiwa likely wouldn't have been included in manager Alan Pardew's starting XI and now it looks like he won't be included on the bench aswell. Either way, it's best to avoid Newcastle defenders for Gameweek 1 if possible, as they have one of the toughest fixtures of the season going against high-powered Manchester City.
