Monreal has been ruled out of Arsenal's Premier League match against Aston Villa on Saturday due to his ongoing back injury.

Monreal was held out of Tuesday's Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, but manager Arsene Wenger said earlier in the week that he thought Monreal would return Saturday. As of Friday, Wenger said he doesn't know when Monreal will return, but indicated he didn't think it would be long-term.

Monreal (foot) is "definitely available" for Sunday's match at Tottenham, according to manager Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners' midfield has taken a few significant blows recently, with Mesut Ozil (hamstring), Aaron Ramsey (thigh), and Jack Wilshere (ankle) all on the sidelines. Monreal is unlikely to pick up much of that slack, but it's certainly encouraging that he's back to fitness.
