Monreal kept a clean sheet in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Not looking quite as sharp as he usually does, potentially because of the knock he picked up against Southampton mid-week, Monreal was still solid in his defensive assignments and did occasionally probe forward, but after the opening half-hour, Arsenal needed only to sit back and pick their spots to move forward as the game was pretty much in hand.

With six goals in his last four starts in all competitions, Sergio Aguero is a unanimous choice as the top striker this weekend.

Monreal kept a clean sheet in Tuesday's scoreless draw with Southampton.

The fullback looked a bit under the weather and took an opportunity to receive a bit of treatment while Jose Fonte was bleeding on the touchline midway through the second half. He also came up lame for a few minutes, but looked to be running at full speed in the final minute of the match. He's excellent at coming forward, but Arsenal's three-match goalless run has put a clamp on the whole team's offensive numbers.

Monreal provided one cross while winning three tackles and making four interceptions in Sunday's goalless draw with Stoke.

The fullback didn't venture forward as often as he typically does Sunday, as Stoke was on the front foot for much of the match. Monreal proved himself up to the challenge, as his defensive efforts salvaged some fantasy value for owners in formats that reward such stats. Monreal should once again be in the starting XI versus Chelsea next week, and he could have more room to operate versus a Blues side that has proven vulnerable on the outsides.

Monreal took one shot, which was not on target, while keeping a clean sheet in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Newcastle United.

Monreal played far from his best match against the Magpies, but despite being exposed numerous times, he still managed to keep a clean sheet. The left back has been mostly excellent this season, starting all but one match while proving to be one of the best offensive left backs in the Premier League.

Monreal tallied a pair of assists in Saturday's 5-2 victory over Leicester City.

Monreal was sound in defense and a true threat moving forward. While often knocked for his stronger work rate moving forward, Monreal showed why he works so hard in the attacking third. These were his first two assists of the season for Monreal, but has been threatening up front in all seven matches and has kept Kieran Gibbs firmly planted on the bench.

Monreal is out for Wednesday's match against QPR because of a slight back strain.

Kieran Gibbs will get the start at leftback in his stead.

Monreal made his third straight start at left-back as he secured a third consecutive clean sheet in Sunday's win over Aston Villa.

Monreal has been an underrated member of Arsenal's squad this season, as injuries to teammates have forced him to occasionally play center-back as opposed to his usual left-back position. Overall, the Spaniard has recorded 15 starts and locked-down six clean sheets along the way. The past three of those have come in consecutive matches at Monreal's preferred left-back post, where he has distanced himself from teammate Kieran Gibbs as Arsenal's first-choice defender in recent weeks.

Monreal (knee) will not play Saturday against Newcastle, manager Arsene Wenger confirmed Thursday.

Monreal appeared slated to start, as Laurent Koscielny is unlikely to play due to a calf injury and Calum Chambers is suspended, but the injury will hold him out once again, and he has no specific timetable for return.
