Schurrle scored in the 69th and 79th minutes of Germany's 7-1 win over Brazil in the semifinal of the World Cup on Tuesday.

The match was essentially decided by the time Schurrle came in for Miroslav Klose, as the Germans led 5-0 before his brace. Schurrle has been a solid contributor off the bench in the tournament and he could very well play the same role for Chelsea next season.

Schurrle notched a goal and an assist in Chelsea's 6-0 demolition of Arsenal on Saturday.

Schurrle has been in excellent form of late, scoring four goals, while assisting on another in his last three Premier League starts. With Samuel Eto'o suffering a hamstring injury early in Saturday's match, Schurrle could stay in the starting XI for next weekend's match at Crystal Palace.

Schurrle scored three second half goals during Chelsea's 3-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Schurrle has now started back-to-back games for Chelsea, after getting the call in Wednesday's Champions League match at Galatasaray. Schurrle has been known to score in bunches, as his six goals this season have come in only three appearances.

Schurrle came on in the 66th minute of Wednesday's Champions League match against Steaua Bucuresti, finishing with two shots, one of which landed on goal.

Schurrle had suffered a calf injury in last weekend's match against Stoke but he clearly recovered in time to finish off Chelsea's group stage matches in the Champions League. The German, who has been in-and-out of the Chelsea starting XI this season, should be available for Saturday's Premier League match against Crystal Palace, although an appearance, or at least a start, is hardly guaranteed.

Schurrle scored in the ninth and 53rd minutes of Chelsea's surprising 3-2 loss to Stoke City on Saturday. However, he had to be subbed off in the second half due to a calf injury.

Schurrle has now scored three times in his last two Premier League starts, although the one before Saturday came back on October 27 against Manchester City. He remains a real flier in fantasy leagues until he can breakthrough into the starting XI more consistently, which may not come soon if the calf injury hampers him.

Schurrle will not play in Saturday's Premier League match against Cardiff City after picking up a small injury while on international duty, ESPN FC reports. Manager Jose Mourinho said "it's the kind of problem that happens a lot in World Cup years, which is a player with a little problem who wants to play in the national team and comes back injured to the club."

Schurrle was just starting to get some relatively consistent time for Chelsea in a crowded midfield. He could still be available for Tuesday's Champions League match against Schalke or next Sunday's Premier League match against Manchester City.

Chelsea has confirmed that they are bringing in Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen. The completion of the transfer is awaiting finalization of legal documentation and Schurrle passing his medical examination.

Schurrle was second on Bayer Leverkusen in goals and assists last season. Chelsea is hoping he is able to bring some scoring help to the team with the potential departure of Fernando Torres.
