Okore had knee surgery in June, and he is expected to be out until September, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Okore was getting consistent starts at centerback toward the end of last season, but the knee started bothering him due to overworking. He previously missed 14 months because of a torn ACL, and Villa will likely have to manage his playing time early in the season to ensure he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

Okore was unable to play in Denmark's loss to France on Sunday because of a knee injury, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Okore had a scan on the knee, which has been swollen, and while there isn't significant structural damage, he is a doubt to play Saturday against Manchester United.

Okore scored on a header in the 48th minute during Aston Villa's 2-1 loss to Chelsea, Villa's first Premier League goal since Dec. 20.

Okore had a very impressive game overall, adding four tackles, four interceptions and six clearances to his first goal of the season, though he did pick up a yellow card. Ron Vlaar was available off the bench after recovering from a knee injury, so it's possible that Okore could have some pressure on his starting job, though after Saturday's performance, it would be surprising if he were dropped.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Okore hasn't made any appearances for Aston Villa this season.

Okore suffered a season-ending knee injury last year but was still expected to be in the starting XI for the Villans during their 2014-15 campaign. However, it seems that he has either fallen out of favor with manager Paul Lambert or he still isn't totally fit. Making matters more confusing, the 22-year-old participated in Villa's preseason and even played for Denmark early in September for the Euro Championships. Regardless of the reason, Okore is not a viable option as he's only been included on Lambert's 18-man roster twice during Premier League play in 2014-15.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Okore was not in the 18 for Aston Villa's Premier League opener against Stoke City on Saturday.

Okore was believed to be fit following a lengthy spell due to a knee injury, but manager Paul Lambert wasn't comfortable including him in the 18-man squad. His next opportunity to play will come Aug. 23 against Newcastle.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Okore (knee) was able to play the first half of Aston Villa's friendly against Walsall on Tuesday.

Okore had been nursing a minor knee injury up until this point which held him out of the friendlies against Chesterfield and Groningen. With Wednesday's outing a success, it seems that nothing is likely holding him back from playing in Villa's opener against Stoke City on Aug. 16.

Okore hurt his knee during training and will miss Villa's friendly against Chesterfield on Wednesday, Express & Star reports.

Okore is no stranger to knee injuries as he tore his ACL last September. Fortunately for him, this injury is unrelated to that torn ACL and manager Paul Lambert expects the 21-year-old to be ready for Villa's opening game against Stoke City on Aug. 16.

Okore (knee) has been a full participant in both of Aston Villa's pre-season games, Aston Villa's Official Site reports.

Okore tore his ACL last September but it appears that he's completed his long road to recovery. This is good news for Villa as he'll likely play a crucial part in their starting back line this season.
