Lingard has been called up to the England squad to face France on Tuesday, reports Sky Sports.

Lingard joined the team on Sunday after two players withdrew due to injury. The call up comes just days after manager Louis van Gaal said the midfielder could use more experience before receiving a call to the senior squad.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said that Lingard is not ready to be called to the England senior squad, reports Sky Sports.

Lingard has 11 caps with England's U21 squad, and has been turning in solid appearances in the past few matches he has played for United, including a goal against West Brom on Saturday. Manager Van Gaal believes the player needs to show more consistency in his form before getting the call for England.

Lingard scored a goal on three shots (one on target) in Saturday's 2-0 victory over West Brom.

After a perfect assist to Wayne Rooney in United's mid-week Champions League tie, Lingard was once again the hero with his first Premier League goal on a fantastic strike from outside the box. The 22-year-old has a bright future at United and with how well he's been playing, should be in line for regular run in the starting XI.

Lingard provided Wayne Rooney a perfectly place assist in the second half to help Manchester United top CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Lingard had a great performance in the match, and his play became more confident as the match matured. The volley to Rooney was a one-touch pass in the air to allow the striker to score the only goal of the match.

Lingard started and played 80 minutes hauling in four dribbles, two crosses and 62 passes in the Champions League draw with CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.

Lingard grabbed his first start of the season and manager Louis van Gaal is excited about the youngster’s future saying that he will have his moments. Of course, don’t dig too deep into his words since the winger doesn’t stand much of a chance for anything more than occasional appearances in a crowded United midfield, despite playing well in his two debut games of the season.

Lingard has been ruled out of Sunday's match against Sunderland due to a knee injury he suffered during last Saturday's match against Swansea.

Lingard made his competitive league debut last weekend for United, but barely lasted 20 minutes before having to be taken off with the injury. He was seen this week in a knee brace while using crutches, and it could be awhile before he's fit again.

Lingard was seen leaving a hospital on crutches Sunday after being forced off from Saturday's match against Swansea with a leg injury, the Daily Express reports.

United have not announced what the injury is, but Lingard's knee was in a brace as he walked with crutches out of the hospital. Lingard appears unlikely to play Sunday against Sunderland, with Adnan Januzaj, who replaced him against Swansea, in line for a start.

Lingard picked up a knock midway through the first half of Manchester United's Premier League opener against Swansea City and he was replaced by Adnan Januzaj in the 24th minute.

Lingard was making his first competitive Premier League appearance and while he was able to play for a few minutes after a 50-50 tackle with Swansea's Ashley Williams, manager Louis van Gaal decided to go with the fitter legs of Januzaj.
