Costa could miss Chelsea's Premier League opener against Swansea City because of a hamstring injury, Goal.com reports. "I don't know if Diego Costa will be available for the start of the season," manager Jose Mourinho said before the Community Shield against Arsenal on Sunday. "He had a little problem after the Barcelona game. After that he was training normally and we thought he would be ready, but this morning he was feeling uncomfortable."

Costa struggled with injuries last season, though he still managed to score 20 goals in Premier League play. If he's unable to start the opener, Loic Remy and Falcao are the top options to fill in.

Costa (hamstring) has been deemed fit to play in the Community Shield against Arsenal on Sunday, manager Jose Mourinho confirmed Friday.

Costa picked up the minor hamstring injury during Tuesday's International Champions Cup match against Barcelona, and while there was some hesitation given his injury history, Mourinho said he will be available for Sunday's match.

Costa is questionable for the Community Shield against Arsenal on Sunday after feeling tightness in his hamstring during Tuesday's International Champions Cup match against Barcelona, Sky Sports reports.

Manager Jose Mourinho said he didn't think the issue was serious, but they will have to wait on a scan before the severity of the ailment is determined. If Costa is unable to start against Arsenal, Falcao and Loic Remy are the top two choices to replace him.

Costa scored 21 goals and added five assists in 32 starts during his first season at Chelsea.

After a hot start in which he scored nine goals in his first nine matches, Costa slowed down a bit as he missed over two months of the season due to injury and suspension. The Spanish international is said to be disenchanted with life in England, but he is considered unlikely to leave Chelsea after winning a league-cup double in his debut season.

Despite manager Jose Mourinho saying Friday that Costa would start, he is only available off the bench Sunday against Sunderland.

Didier Drogba will get the start after announcing Sunday morning that this will be his last game for Chelsea. Costa could still make an appearance off the bench, but it's tough to rely on that for fantasy purposes.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said Friday that Costa will start the season finale Sunday against Sunderland.

Costa missed over a month with a hamstring injury but returned Monday against West Brom. He's still sitting on 19 Premier League goals, which puts him behind Sergio Aguero (25) and Harry Kane (20) for the Golden Boot.

Costa (hamstring) is in the starting lineup Monday against West Brom.

Costa has not played since April 4 against Stoke due to the ailment, and while Chelsea have nothing to play for given that they've already won the title, Costa will get at least one chance to try to reach 20 goals for the season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said Friday that Costa (hamstring) is expected to be available Monday against West Brom.

Chelsea have already locked up the title, so there was no reason for rush Costa back before he was fully fit. He has consistently maintained that he wants to play again this season, and it appears Mourinho is at least open to the possibility now. If Costa does start Monday, Loic Remy will move back to the bench, though Costa is unlikely to play 90 minutes.
