Gotze (ribs) began practicing on Wednesday, the club reports.

Gotze sustained rib fractures in the last match of the season against Hannover 96, and was unable to compete in the DFB Pokal final due to the injury. They expect Gotze to be ready to go for Euro 2016, and him practicing is a good sign that his recovery is progressing as planned.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gotze will not participate in the DFB Pokal final due to fractured ribs he sustained in the last match of the season against Hannover 96, the club reports.

The club expects Gotze to be fit for Euro 2016, although he will not be able to fight for the double for his side Saturday. Although manager Pep Guardiola has plenty of squad depth at his disposal, Gotze's absence is somewhat ill-timed, as he bagged a brace in last weekend's match and would have been likely to build on that momentum.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gotze put all four of his shots on target and scored twice in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Hannover.

Gotze was the star of the show Saturday, putting two of his four shots into the back of the net and adding the exclamation point to Bayern Munich’s record-setting season. The World Cup winner had a good start to the season and had three goals and three assists in his first ten matches across all competitions. However, he spent several months on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury and his season never really recovered until the last three matches, in which he scored two goals and provided one assist while playing all but 28 minutes. Gotze has one year left on his contract and may be attracting the attention of other clubs during the summer transfer window. First, he will try to lock up a another trophy this season by winning the DFB Pokal final next Saturday against his former club Borussia Dortmund.

Gotze provided an assist in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Hertha Berlin.

Gotze has been a mainstay in the squad’s Bundesliga campaign since returning from injury and produced his first assist since October by providing the key pass that led to Arturo Vidal’s goal. Manager Pep Guardiola has plenty of depth at his disposal and has been rotating the squad materially in recent weeks. Gotze barely featured in the Champions League quarterfinal matches, so fantasy owners should monitor the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid to determine whether Gotze will start the day on the pitch or on the bench.

Gotze played in his first Bundesliga match since October, as Bayern Munich defeated Werder Bremen 5-0 last Saturday.

Gotze has been out of commission since Bayern Munich’s 5-1 win against Borussia Dortmund on October 4th, in which he scored a goal and earned an assist. Although he was subbed out in the 53rd minute of Saturday’s contest against Werder Bremen, he did register two shots, putting both on target, and played two crosses. Bayern Munich host Juventus in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg this Wednesday. Even if Gotze starts, it’s unlikely that he will play the full 90 minutes, so fantasy owners may want to look elsewhere until Gotze returns to full match health.

Gotze was an unused sub in Saturday's Bundesliga match against Darmstadt, his first match back after recovering from a thigh injury he suffered in October.

Gotze's long recovery is finally complete, though with a lack of match fitness, it'll still take some time to fight for a spot in the first XI. Bayern certainly didn't miss Gotze too much during his absence, as they are now 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga after Saturday's victory. Up next is a Champions League match against Juventus on Tuesday, one that Gotze could feature in but will most likely not start.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gotze suffered a thigh injury during Germany's Euro 2016 qualifer Thursday and will be out for 10-to-12 weeks.

Gotze has found regular starts a bit hard to come by, but he's a fantastic talent who has a knack for goal. While his absence won't significantly hamper Bayern's attack, they'll certainly be lighter in depth.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gotze failed to take a single shot but he recorded an assist in Bayern Munich's 2-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Gotze is more of a goal scorer than a provider, as evidenced by his nine goals and two assists last season, but he's a consistent attacker for a Bayern side expected to score plenty of goals this season.
