Sakho is expected to replace the injured Dejan Lovren (groin) in the starting XI for Sunday's match against Arsenal, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Sakho has yet to start this season, as he missed considerable time with a thigh injury, but now that he's fully fit, manager Brendan Rodgers is going to roll the dice with Sakho as part of a three-man back line. It's not a great fantasy matchup, particularly with Brad Jones starting in goal.

Liverpool assistant manager Colin Pascoe said Monday that Sakho is expected to be out for "another couple of weeks" due to his thigh injury.

Sakho hasn't played since Sept. 23 against Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup, but apparently re-injured his thigh during rehab work. Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren will continue to start in the back for the Reds.

Sakho has picked up a thigh strain in training and will be sidelined for two to three weeks, according to manager Brendan Rodgers.

Sakho didn't make the trip to Switzerland for Liverpool's upcoming Champions League match against FC Basel, and will be out of commission for a few weeks. Prior to the injury Sakho had returned to a bench role, backing up Martin Skrtel.

Sakho picked up the clean sheet in Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.

Sakho got the start replacing the injured Marten Skrtel (knock) and put in an excellent performance alongside Dejan Lovren. After shutting out a formidable opponent it wouldn't be surprising if manager Brendan Rodgers elects to keep the first successful center-back pairing of the season together. With good matchups coming up against Aston Villa and West Ham this could be Sakho's chance to solidify his place in the starting XI.

Sakho was available off the bench Sunday, but did not play in Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Southampton.

Sakho looks to be second choice behind Martin Skrtel to start alongside new signing Dejan Lovren. It remains to be seen how manager Brendan Rodgers will rotate his squad once Champions League fixtures start piling on, but for now, Sakho will have to wait for an opportunity to get back on the pitch.

Sakho was included in the squad for Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday.

Sakho hasn't played since late December and with Liverpool recording two clean sheets in their last two matches, Sakho might be eased slowly back onto the pitch, as to not disrupt the current back line's form.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Sakho (hamstring) has returned to training and will be a late fitness test for this weekend's clash with Southampton.

Sakho will most likely slot back into the first team once fit, putting Daniel Agger's playing time in question.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Sakho is expected to remain sidelined for the remainder of the month with a torn tendon, originally reported as a hamstring injury.

Sakho was thought to be a bit behind schedule, but a tendon injury requires more time to heal. Sakho was just beginning to settle into the league before his injury, so he'll look to pickup where he left off upon his return.
