Sakho is expected to be sidelined for up to a month because of an Achilles injury, ESPN FC reports.

Sakho's injury will force him to miss the beginning of the Premier League season, with Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip expected to be manager Jurgen Klopp's starting centerbacks.

Sakho will not contest his failed drug test results, according to Sky Sports.

Sakho reportedly tested positive for a fat-burning substance following last month's Europa League match against Manchester United. The defender had until Tuesday to request a test on a B sample, but he has accepted the initial result. He is not currently suspended for the result, but was left out of the team's draw with Newcastle and did not travel to Spain to face Villarreal.

Sakho has been suspended by Liverpool for failing a drug test, according to Tony Barret of The Times

Sakho has been a huge piece of Liverpool's defense, and his absence will certainly be a blow. Kolo Toure could move into the starting XI in Sakho's place, with Martin Skrtel still banged up.

Sakho tallied his second goal in all competitions in Wednesday's Merseyside derby.

Sakho got his head on the end of a James Milner cross into the box in the closing minutes of the first half against Everton. The header was the first EPL goal of the campaign for the defender who also got a fantasy boost from helping the Reds record a clean sheet.

Sakho (head) is starting Sunday against Crystal Palace.

Sakho's return is a solid boost for the Reds, who will line up with a back three Sunday of Sakho, Jon Flanagan and Dejan Lovren.

Sakho (head) returned to training this week, and he could be available for Sunday's match against Crystal Palace.

Sakho's return would be a solid boost for the Reds, who have been forced to use Lucas Leiva at centerback of late instead of Kolo Toure.

Sakho started and made four interceptions while contributing to a clean-sheet effort in Sunday's win over Aston Villa.

Sakho played well positionally, though the Liverpool defense had little to do in a dominant win. Dejan Lovren is expected to return from his hamstring injury soon, which likely will allow Sakho to continue starting, while Kolo Toure moves to the bench.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Despite suffering a slight head injury versus Arsenal on Wednesday, Sakho is expected to be ready for this weekend's match versus Manchester United, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The defender collided with Olivier Giroud as the pair fought an aerial duel Wednesday, but he was able to shake it off and finish the match. With Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel both dealing with injuries of their own, Sakho's availability could be quite important versus the Red Devils.
