Barkley came off the bench in the 65th minute of Everton's 3-1 win over Burnley on Sunday.

Barkley did not get the start in order to give his knee a small rest, as the club clearly don't want to over work the youngster, and they will likely monitor his minutes until he is fully fit. Now may be the time to get him in your lineups as his value is a bit low and he has a favorable schedule approaching facing Swansea, Sunderland, and West Ham.

Barkley (knee) is in the starting XI for Everton's Premier League match against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Barkley suffered the injury back in August and has finally made the long return back to the pitch. It comes at a great time for Everton, who are desperately looking for an offensive spark with Kevin Mirallas out with a hamstring injury.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez said Barkley (knee) could return to training next week. "Ross Barkley is developing well," Martinez said Friday. "I hope he can join the group as early as next Wednesday and start working with the full team."

Barkley has yet to feature this season due to a knee injury suffered just before the season-opener, with initial estimates that he would return in six weeks, which was then expanded to five months. He'll end up closer to the former, which is great news for Everton and fantasy owners. If he's able to work on his match fitness over the international break, he could make his season-debut Oct. 18 against Aston Villa.

Manchester City may target Barkley (knee) or a transfer next summer after failing to land him with their first effort last June, according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester City felt Barkley was overpriced last summer, so didn't pursue the deal, but are expected to return next summer as they try to ensure they have enough homegrown players on the roster. Barkley remains out with a knee ligament injury and no expected return date.
