Valdes completed a long-awaited move away from Manchester United by agreeing to a loan with Standard Liege until the end of the current season, reports the Daily Mail.

Valdes signed a contract with Manchester United in 2015 before falling out of favor with manager Louis van Gaal. He has been training alone since last season, and will now work to displace Guillaume Hubert as Liege's first choice in goal.

Espanyol have made an offer to bring Valdes back to Spain in January after being frozen out of the side at Manchester United, reports the Daily Mail.

Valdes has continued his exile from the club, training alone at the team complex. He is widely expected to be offloaded in January, but has been interested in remaining in the Premier League.

Newcastle are believed to be interested in bringing in Valdes on an emergency loan, the Shields Gazette reports.

With No. 1 keeper Tim Krul out for the year with a torn ACL and backups Karl Darlow (ankle) and Rob Eliott (thigh, shoulder) also dealing with injuries, the Toon are left with just 18-year-old Freddie Woodman to play in goal. Valdes has been playing with the United U-21 side for most of the season, with David de Gea the clear No. 1 and Sergio Romero the backup, giving United little reason to hold onto Valdes.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said that the club plans to sell Valdes this summer because the keeper refused to play for the reserves side last season, reports Sky Sports.

Valdes did not travel with the side on their summer tour, but had vowed to stay with the club to fight for a spot. Van Gaal said that he was for sale due to refusing to follow the club's philosophy.

Valdes was unavailable for Saturday's match against Sunderland because of a small injury, manager Louis van Gaal said after the match, the Daily Mirror reports.

With David de Gea getting the start, Valdes wasn't like to play anyway, though de Gea did pull up limp at one point, forcing Anders Lindegaard to briefly warm up. De Gea remained in the game and doesn't look likely to miss much time, which will continue to stunt Valdes' fantasy potential.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Valdes started his first official match for Manchester United in a U21 win over Liverpool on Monday, reports Sky Sports.

Valdes helped the side win 2-1, failing to keep a clean sheet due to a shot by Jerome Sinclair. It was the keeper's first appearance since officially joining the team earlier this month.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Manager Louis van Gaal confirmed that Valdes will be the No. 2 keeper behind David de Gea, which certainly limits any fantasy value.

Valdes (knee) is expected to sign an 18-month contract with Manchester United this week, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Valdes was linked with Liverpool earlier this season, but he began training with Manchester United as part of his recovery from a torn ACL, which he suffered last March. Valdes is not expected to supplant David de Gea as the starter, though it certainly puts some pressure on the younger Spaniard.
