Valdes was unavailable for Saturday's match against Sunderland because of a small injury, manager Louis van Gaal said after the match, the Daily Mirror reports.

With David de Gea getting the start, Valdes wasn't like to play anyway, though de Gea did pull up limp at one point, forcing Anders Lindegaard to briefly warm up. De Gea remained in the game and doesn't look likely to miss much time, which will continue to stunt Valdes' fantasy potential.

Valdes started his first official match for Manchester United in a U21 win over Liverpool on Monday, reports Sky Sports.

Valdes helped the side win 2-1, failing to keep a clean sheet due to a shot by Jerome Sinclair. It was the keeper's first appearance since officially joining the team earlier this month.

Manager Louis van Gaal confirmed that Valdes will be the No. 2 keeper behind David de Gea, which certainly limits any fantasy value.

Valdes (knee) is expected to sign an 18-month contract with Manchester United this week, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Valdes was linked with Liverpool earlier this season, but he began training with Manchester United as part of his recovery from a torn ACL, which he suffered last March. Valdes is not expected to supplant David de Gea as the starter, though it certainly puts some pressure on the younger Spaniard.

Valdes (knee) is unlikely to start for Manchester United due to David de Gea's finger injury, despite training with the club, due to his lack of fitness, reports the Daily Mail.

Valdes is expected to join United in the near future, but remains short of match fitness after recovering from a serious knee injury in March. Manchester United could sign him if his fitness is deemed sufficient.

Valdes, who is continuing to recover from a torn ACL suffered last March, has begun rehabbing and lightly training with Manchester United.

Valdes was heavily linked to Liverpool in the last few weeks, but training with Manchester United could surely scupper any move to Anfield. He's still quite a way away from returning to full fitness, so there isn't any pressure on incumbent keeper David De Gea yet.

Valdes will miss the rest of the La Liga season and the World Cup after tearing his ACL in Wednesay's win over Celta Vigo, Goal.com reports.

The 32-year-old keeper has already announced that he will not return to Barcelona next season, as his contract expires with the club this summer. It is unclear where his next stop is, but any team that picks him up will likely only have him for a fraction of next season.

Valdes (calf) has been cleared by Barcelona's medical staff and could play Sunday against Elche, Goal.com reports.

Jose Manuel Pinto has started in Valdes' place while he's been out. The No. 1 keeper has been out since November, but will likely return to the starting XI this weekend.
