RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mariappa should make the starting XI for Saturday's trip to West Brom.

Mariappa will deputise for Damien Delaney (suspension) who misses one game after a red card last time out. The defender plays alongside Brede Hangeland for the first time ever due to the fact Scott Dann (knee) is still out of action. Mariappa has one clean sheet so far this season though fantasy managers shouldn't expect a second one this weekend.

Mariappa lost his place in the starting XI for Sunday's 3-2 win at Everton.

Mariappa ended up as an unused substitute after his right back place was taken by Martin Kelly. Manager Neil Warnock has been alternating between the two defenders so far this season and when Mariappa does play there is the chance he will chip with an assist even though clean sheets look like being hard to come by.

Mariappa recorded a clean sheet in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Burnley.

Mariappa supplanted Martin Kelly at right back in the Palace starting lineup and was solid in a draw with the promoted side. Manager Neil Warnock looks like preferring Mariappa as first choice right back yet fantasy managers should be cautious due to the he side's poor defensive record so far.

Mariappa started his first game of the season and was booked during Saturday's 3-3 draw at Newcastle.

Mariappa played as right back after coming in for the injured midfielder Joe Ledley (groin). Mariappa suffered a torrid 90 minutes where most of Newcastle's attacking intent came down the home side's left hand side and Mariappa picked up a yellow card for his troubles. Fantasy owners should be cautious about picking Mariappa due to no guarantees that he'll start every week and Palace's leaky defence thus far.

Mariappa played for the first time this season in a routine 3-0 win against Walsall in the Capital One Cup second round clash on Tuesday.

Mariappa played in his familiar right-back position for the full 90 minutes and should push new signing Martin Kelly hard for the starting berth ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Newcastle. Mariappa likes to get forward though Crystal Palace have already looked susceptible at set-pieces since Tony Pulis departed as manager and aren’t a lock for clean sheets like last season.

Mariappa was an unused substitute for Saturday's 3-1 loss to West Ham United.

Mariappa returned from a rib injury but was unable to displace incumbent Martin Kelly as the team's right-back. Mariappa could get his first chance of the season in next weekend's trip to Newcastle.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mariappa (ribs) trained today and could join the Palace squad ahead of Saturday’s match-up with West Ham, caretaker manager Keith Millen told the Croydon Advertiser.

Mariappa played the majority of last season as Crystal Palace’s first-choice right back and faces a battle to win back his spot from new signing Martin Kelly. Mariappa likes to get forward and this combined with Palace’s clean sheet record makes the versatile defender an attractive lower-end option in fantasy leagues.
