Bertrand kept a clean sheet in Tuesday's scoreless draw with Arsenal.

Since making a crucial error against West Ham, Bertrand has acquitted himself well over the past five matches. The team's conceded just once in that period and has kept four-straight clean sheets.

Bertrand provided eight crosses in Monday's 2-1 loss to West Ham, but he also picked up a yellow card and made a crucial error that led to the tying goal.

The 26-year-old provided a constant threat going forward, but his clumsy clearance in the 69th minute ricocheted off of Michail Antonio and over Maarten Stekelenberg to tie the match. Southampton looked to be on the rise after the huge Boxing Day win over Arsenal, but Monday's setback did little to help the momentum build. Still, Bertrand is a regular starter and a serviceable fantasy option given the right matchup, and this will remain the case for Saturday's match versus Norwich.

Bertrand assisted the first goal for Southampton in Sunday's 2-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth.

Bertrand sent in a cross in the 31st minute to Steven Davis who finished it off with his right foot. This was his first assist this season for Southampton in his five matches started, with these starts coming after returning from his knee injury which kept him sidelined for the start of the season.

Bertrand (knee) is starting Saturday against Swansea City.

Bertrand has yet to feature this season due to the ailment, but he'll slot back into the starting lineup in his return, with Matt Targett, who had been starting at leftback, not in the 18-man squad.

Bertrand (knee) could return to full training next Monday, though he is still going to need time to work on his match fitness, Southampton manager Ronald Koeman said Thursday.

Bertrand has been sidelined for three months after having surgery on both knees, and while he's getting close to training, Koeman specifically noted that all the other players had full pre-seasons while Bertrand did not. Matt Targett is expected to continue to start at leftback.

Bertrand (knee) could return in 2-to-3 weeks, manager Ronald Koeman said Wednesday.

Bertrand underwent minor surgery on both knees in the first week of July and was expected to be sidelined for six week, and while the new timeline takes him beyond that, he has a good chance to get back in the starting lineup by September. Matt Targett is expected to start at left back while Bertrand is sidelined.

Bertrand will be sidelined for at least six weeks after he had minor surgery on both knees 10 days ago, The Guardian reports.

The surgery will certainly put a dent into Bertrand's preseason training, and with the Premier League opener less than five weeks away, it looks highly likely that he will not open the season fit and starting.

Bertrand enjoyed an excellent 2014-15 season, as he helped Southampton to the second best defensive record in the Premier League and earned his first senior cap for the English national team.

The versatile 25-year-old proved his worth on both sides of the ball, as he consistently excelled in his defensive responsibilities and even earned a handful of spot starts in midfield thanks to his technical ability. Southampton agreed on a deal with Chelsea in January to make his loan deal permanent, and with a clear mind regarding his future, Bertrand is poised to make even bigger strides next season.
