Gestede will face a late fitness test ahead of Saturday's match against Everton after returning from international duty with a knock.

Little other information was revealed about the injury, but Gestede would stand a good chance to start Saturday's match if fit, with Gabriel Agbonlohor considered doubtful to play. The Frenchman has played just 51 combined minutes in Villa's last two league matches, but he could step into a larger role if he can overcome his knock.

Gestede hammered two goals and blasted a total of four shots on goal in the loss on Liverpool on Saturday.

The Frenchman was the only real threat for the visitors and almost changed the course of the lost-cause game all by himself. As soon as Gabriel Agbonlahor and Adama Traore come back from injuries, however, Gestede will likely sit out again.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gestede scored the match-winning goal after being introduced as a second half substitute in Aston Villa's match against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Gestede, who joined Aston Villa this summer following two highly productive Championship seasons at Blackburn, needed little time to put his stamp on Saturday's Premier League opener. His aerial presence ultimately decided the match, as the Frenchman skied to head home a corner kick in the 72nd minute. Similar to departed forward Christian Benteke in terms of his commanding physicality, Gestede's ability to lead the line could earn him a place in Villa's starting lineup moving forward, potentially making him an undervalued fantasy striker.
