Matic (head) is on the bench Wednesday against West Brom.

Matic reportedly suffered the head injury after he was hit by a throw from a goalkeeper at close range, complaining of dizziness and a headache afterward, but he's recovered in time to at least be a reserve option, though that obviously limits his already low fantasy upside.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matic is in danger of missing Wednesday's match versus West Brom after suffering a head injury in training.

The Serbian was beaned by a throw from a goalkeeper at close range, and he reportedly complained of dizziness and headaches afterward. Matic seemingly has a good chance to recover over the next two days, but his status for the match has yet to be confirmed one way or another. John Obi Mikel is the logical choice to start in Matic's holding midfield position if he is unable to make it back in time.

Matic blasted two shots off target and added team-leading six total tackles in the 2-2 home draw to Watford on Boxing Day.

The Serbian had a very quiet statistical game but was the main reason for the first Hornets' goal. He made a very clumsy attempt to clear a cross and somehow, untroubled, managed to handle the ball and gift a penalty to Watford. He's been very solid for the Blues, piling up 15 starts already. Nevertheless, he's not a productive fantasy player scoring just once, thus far, this season and is playing as a holding midfielder.

Matic voiced his frustration about Serbia's performances and said the lack of progress with the team is making him consider quitting international play, reports Sky Sports.

Serbia did not qualify for Euro 2016 and finished fourth in their group. This is the third major tournament the team has missed. Matic said he spoke to coach Radovan Curcic to say that there is no point of him continuing to play if something doesn't change.

Matic led Chelsea with three shots and scored their lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Everton on Saturday.

It was a fantastic strike with his left foot about 25-yards out and it was the only bright spot in a rough performance for the struggling Blues. This was his first significant production for Chelsea on the season and they may decide to move him further up the pitch to get the offense going. He and Chelsea take on Arsenal in their next match next Saturday.

Matic's three-match ban for violent conduct stemming from last weekend's match against Burnley has been reduced to two games, the FA announced Tuesday.

Matic will miss this weekend's Capital One Cup final against Tottenham, as well as a Premier League match against West Ham on March 4, but he will be eligible to return March 15 against Southampton.

Matic was sent off with a straight red card during Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday.

Ashley Barnes hit Matic with a dangerous tackle that could have seriously damaged his leg, and the latter immediately rose from the ground and shoved Barnes, leading to the ejection. He'll miss the Capital One Cup final against Tottenham, as well as two additional Premier League matches.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matic picked up his fifth yellow card of the season during Chelsea's 3-0 win over Tottenham on Wednesday, and he will be suspended for Saturday's match against Newcastle at St. James' Park.

Matic has been an absolute rock in the defensive midfield for Chelsea this season, but his absence will create an opening for Ramires to get his first start since Nov. 8.
