Luis was forced out of Tuesday's Capital One Cup match against Liverpool after suffering a calf injury, manager Jose Mourinho confirmed after the game.

Cesar Azpilicueta, who recently dealt with a groin injury, came on for Luis and is expected to continue starting ahead of him at leftback during Premier League play.

Luis is expected to start Saturday at Swansea City in place of the injured Cesar Azpilicueta, who is sidelined at least 10 days with a groin injury, EPSN FC reports.

Luis is a natural leftback, unlike Azpilicueta who is more comfortable on the right side, and he also likes to get involved in the attack, which could give him a higher fantasy ceiling than his teammate in the coming games.

Luis started Chelsea's Champions League match against Schalke 04 on Wednesday and played all 90 minutes.

Luis started in place of Cesar Azpilicueta, something that could occur more often in the coming weeks. If Luis can garner regular time in the starting XI, he would likely be the best value of the strong Chelsea back line, as Gary Cahill, John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic are heavily-priced in most salary cap games.

Luis came on for Eden Hazard in the 83rd minute of Chelsea's 6-3 win over Everton on Saturday.

Luis did not play at all in Chelsea's first two Premier League matches and he barely got a sweat going in their third. The preseason indication is that he would compete with Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta for playing time, but with Ivanovic scoring two goals an assisting on another through three games, it seems highly doubtful that manager Jose Mourinho would pull him now. As it stands, Azpilicueta remains the starter, which leaves Luis with very limited fantasy value.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Luis was an unused substitute for the second Premier League match in a row Saturday against Leicester City.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanovic continue to get the starts on the defensive wings, and with Chelsea nabbing six points out of the two league matches so far, it's tough to justify manager Jose Mourinho making a switch. That being said, Luis is an excellent defender, and if he can break into the starting XI, he could be an very solid fantasy performer.

Luis was available off the bench but he did not feature in Chelsea's 3-1 win over Burnley on Monday.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanovic got the starts on the wings Monday, but it's only a matter of time before Luis, who joined from Atletico Madrid this summer, gets more consistent playing time.

Luis signed a three-year contract with Chelsea on Friday after transferring from Atletico Madrid, the club's official web site reports.

Luis is a great get for Chelsea, as he will be able to contribute immediately as an attacking left-back. Given the defensive scheme that manager Jose Mourinho employs, Luis could be a solid fantasy contributor this season.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have agreed to a transfer fee for Luis, according to Chelsea's official web site.

Luis appears to be in position to replace Ashely Cole, who signed with Serie A side AS Roma this summer. If he can garner a consistent spot in the starting XI, he should have solid fantasy value playing in Jose Mourinho's defensive strategy.
