Dier made nine clearances and four interceptions in the 0-0 draw to Burnley Sunday.

Dier had a good start to the season, but has not been seeing regular playing time with 21 appearances on the year. With that said, he has made eight consecutive starts and has appeared to recapture the starting role. With performances like these he'll continue to start and will likely feature in the starting XI next Saturday against Aston Villa.

Dier was the unlikely hero Saturday, grabbing the winning goal late into stoppage time in Tottenham's 1-0 win over West Ham.

The relatively unknown Dier not only got a start, but also the winning goal in the opening fixture for Spurs. Simply due to his heroics, the defender figures to continue to feature in the starting XI, that is until manager Mauricio Pochettino sees something that makes him think otherwise.

Dier has agreed to join Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon.

Dier, a highly-rated 20-year old who can operate as a defender or defensive midfielder, came up through the ranks at Lisbon despite being born in England, and his performances were enough to earn a call-up into the U21 national team setup. Dier made 30 first-team appearances with the Portuguese outfit and gained valuable experience in the process, but it remains to be seen what kind of role he'll be able to carve out with Spurs.
