Dier scored a goal and was issued a yellow card in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Manchester City.

Dier has shifted nicely into his new role as a holding midfielder. While he's a center-half by trade, his versatility and pace for a center back makes him a good fit as a defensive midfielder. The goal was his second of the season after scoring two in all of last season. Discipline could be a problem in the near future for Dier as in seven Premier League matches, he's accrued four yellow cards.

Dier scored the opening goal on a header in the 2-2 draw with Stoke City on Saturday.

Dier got another start in the midfield and capitalized on his opportunity by finishing off a nice cross with a precise header. He scored just two goals last season, but he was primarily playing a more defensive role and those numbers could rise based on his position.

Dier picked up an assist on four crosses and added six clearances in the 1-0 win against Everton on Sunday.

Dier had a solid season for Spurs as he had two goals and two assists in 28 games played and was effective defensively. He was in and out of the starting lineup, but appeared to capture a starting role at the end of the season starting the final 15 games of the season.

Dier made nine clearances and four interceptions in the 0-0 draw to Burnley Sunday.

Dier had a good start to the season, but has not been seeing regular playing time with 21 appearances on the year. With that said, he has made eight consecutive starts and has appeared to recapture the starting role. With performances like these he'll continue to start and will likely feature in the starting XI next Saturday against Aston Villa.

Dier sustained the injury whilst away on international duty with the England under-21 squad and continues his run in the North London team's defence that has already kept two clean sheets. Dier has also helped himself to two goals in the first three games.

Dier grabbed a goal in the 4-0 win over QPR on Sunday.

After scoring the winner last weekend, Dier found the back of the net once again Sunday. He was a surprising start last week, but rewarded his manager once again with another goal. This relative unknown is starting to make a name for himself at White Hart Lane.

Dier was the unlikely hero Saturday, grabbing the winning goal late into stoppage time in Tottenham's 1-0 win over West Ham.

The relatively unknown Dier not only got a start, but also the winning goal in the opening fixture for Spurs. Simply due to his heroics, the defender figures to continue to feature in the starting XI, that is until manager Mauricio Pochettino sees something that makes him think otherwise.
