Dempsey scored in the 81st minute of the United States' 2-2 draw with Portugal at the World Cup on Sunday.

Dempsey was the lone striker Sunday with Jozy Altidore (hamstring) sidelined, and he was able to take a short Graham Zusi cross and direct it into the goal off his stomach. The score gave the US a 2-1 lead, which they ultimately squandered with just seconds remaining. Dempsey did not appear to be limited by his broken nose at all, and he did not even wear a mask during the game. He's found the back of the net in both of the US' games in Brazil and he'll be looking to make it three-for-three against Germany on Thursday. The US will advance to the knockout round with a win or a draw.

Dempsey, who suffered a broken nose in Monday's World Cup match against Ghana, has not decided if he will wear a protective mask Sunday against Portugal, USA Today reports.

Dempsey is obviously at a bigger risk of further injury if he goes without the mask, although many players say it is uncomfortable to wear it. Either way, Dempsey will be in the starting XI come Sunday.

Dempsey scored 35 seconds into USA's 2-1 win over Ghana in their opening match of the World Cup on Monday. However, he was kicked in the face in the first half and could have a broken nose.

Ghana controlled possession for most of the game, putting added importance on Dempsey's goal. He was clearly struggling to breath through his nose during post-match interviews, and he could be forced to wear a mask Sunday against Portugal.

Dempsey made it a staggering five goals in two games for Seattle in Saturday's 3-2 win over FC Dallas.

If Dempsey is not in your lineup, you may as well retire your Fantasy MLS career. A Clint Dempsey with a chip on his shoulder after the early two-game suspension is a very, very scary thing.

Dempsey looks refreshed after sitting out during his two-game suspension and then getting back on the field for the U.S. against Mexico. The final two goals brought Seattle back from being down 4-2. Deuce looks to be in top form and definitely merits a spot in your lineup.

Deuce looked vintage. Comfortable and happy to be back in the States, away from the mess at Fulham.

Dempsey was in the starting XI and played all 90 minutes in Fulham's 1-3 loss to Chelsea on Saturday. Dempsey took one shot in his final match for the Cottagers before heading back to the Sounders of MLS.

It's tough to consider Dempsey's loan spell a success, as he failed to score a goal or record an assist in any of his six matches in all competitions. He'll head back to the States as arguably one of the best players in Major League Soccer, and will be a vital cog of the U.S. World Cup team.
