An ankle sprain prevented Torres from making his debut with AC Milan on Sunday, reports the Daily Mail.

Torres suffered the injury on Saturday, but the club waited until Sunday night to reveal the issue. The team was hoping the striker would recover in time for the match, but Torres was unable to make the cut.

Torres has joined AC Milan on a two-year loan deal.

Torres has failed to live up to his pricey transfer fee while at Stamford Bridge, which meant he found himself on the substitutes bench more often than not. He should receive regular starts for Milan, with whom he'll try to re-gain his long-absent goalscoring form. It is rather interesting that the deal is for two seasons, though either way it's highly unlikely Torres will don a Chelsea shirt ever again.

AC Milan is in discussions with Chelsea in an effort to bring Torres to Italy, reports the Daily Mail.

Reports suggest that Milan are willing to meet Chelsea's valuation, and will only need to secure terms with Torres and his exit payment to complete the agreement.

Torres was left out of the 18-man squad that faced Leicester City on Saturday, as speculation continues to mount that he will be moved this summer.

Torres was an unused substitute for Chelsea's Premier League opener against Burnley on Monday, and there appears to be little upside to staying at Stamford Bridge, as he is firmly stuck behind Diego Costa and Didier Drogba on the depth chart. A number of teams have shown interest in Torres, although manager Jose Mourinho continues to say that he is not for sale.

Roma has asked Chelsea about the possibility of bringing Torres to Italy, reports the Daily Mail.

Chelsea has previously said that the striker is not for sale, but Roma is offering Mattia Destro in exchange to help sweeten the deal. Chelsea have brought in two strikers this summer, Diego Costa and Didier Drogba.

Torres will not be sold this summer, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has told Sky Sports.

It's safe to say Torres, who joined the Blues for 50 million in 2011, has been a huge disappointment at the club so far. Nonetheless, Mourinho is happy with the three strikers (Torres, Diego Costa and Didier Drogba) at his disposal and will not be selling the Spaniard, at least for now. Time is certainly running out for Torres to re-discover his form, however.

Monaco has joined Atletico Madrid in pursuit of a transfer of Torres, reports the Daily Mail.

Atletico Madrid had been the most likely contender for the striker, but reports suggest the player is open to all offers. Chelsea is rumored to be looking for a 20 million transfer fee.

Torres scored in the 69th minute of Spain's 3-0 win over Australia at the World Cup on Monday.

Torres has now scored 39 international goals for Spain in 111 appearances, which dwarfs his 20 goals for Chelsea in his 110 appearances for the club. With Chelsea expected to bring in striker Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid this summer, it is unclear what his future holds at Stamford Bridge.
