Richards took one shot (none on target) in Friday's defeat to Manchester United.

Richards, who hasn't scored since November 19, 2011, was denied a plumb goal scoring opportunity by an uncalled foul on Matteo Darmian. The foul would've given Villa a penalty shot. The 27-year-old England national was acquired by Villa this summer and has acquitted himself nicely in his first two appearances, playing the full 90 minutes both times and providing a steady hand to the at times shaky back line.

Richards signed a four-year contract with Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Richards joins on a free transfer from Manchester City having spent last season on loan with Serie A side Fiorentina. Villa struggled defensively last season after Tim Sherwood took over, and while Richards could help, it's unlikely to be a strong defensive unit next season.

Pablo Zabaleta has held down the full-back position over Richards. Though City have offered the England international a contract, Richards is hesitant to agree with Liverpool, West Ham, and Newcastle all interested in his services.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Richards looks destined to leave Manchester City this summer after telling the team he wouldn't sign a new contract, reports the Daily Mail.

City offered Richards a new five-year contract, but the defender has told the organization that he is not willing to agree. He hasn't held down a regular starting position in the side, which could be causing some of his frustration. His current contract expires at the end of next season, which could force Manchester City to see him this summer.
