Altidore scored an unassisted goal with his lone shot attempt in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Fire.

Altidore corralled a corner from Sebastian Giovinco and put it home after a brief pause in front of the net. Saturday's goal was Altidore's first in five games and his 11th on the season. His performance has been ridiculed this season but he's still amounted admirable production and is a threat to score in every game.

Altidore will miss Saturday's game against the Sounders as he competes internationally with the U.S. Men's National Team, Rudi Schuller of reports.

With Sebastian Giovinco also receiving an international call-up from Italy, head coach Greg Vanney will be left with Herculez Gomez, Robbie Findley, and Luke Moore as his only viable options at forward. As for Altidore, he won't be able to rejoin his club until Sept. 13 against the Revolution.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Altidore came off the bench for just 18 minutes in Saturday's game against Orlando City but he still managed to score two goals, one off a penalty kick, with his only two shot attempts.

Altidore started the day on a low note by getting benched by head coach Gregg Vanney but came away with a positive outing that leaves Vanney in a tough position heading into next week. However, it seems that Altidore will still be limited off the bench against Montreal on Saturday, leaving Sebastian Giovinco all alone as Vanney's only forward.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Altidore has been benched for Saturday's game against Orlando City.

Despite Altidore's status as a designated player and large contract, head coach Gregg Vanney has seen enough lackluster performances from the striker and is making the bold move to have him take a seat on the bench. However, Vanney has elected to utilize Sebastian Giovinco as the lone striker instead of replacing the second forward slot with Robbie Findley or Herculez Gomez. Either way, Altidore's value across all formats took a major blow with Vanney's decision Saturday.

Altidore picked up a red card against the Revolution on Saturday and is expected to be suspended for Wednesday's game against Orlando City, barring a repeal from the league.

Unless the league takes action ahead of Wednesday's game, Robbie Findley has a chance to enter the starting XI as he plays in place of Altidore.

Altidore scored a penalty kick and had two shots in Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Columbus.

Altidore was able to score his first goal since returning from the Gold Cup, as he capped the comeback in the 89th minute. Some will say that Altidore’s penalty was a poor call as it looked like he went down a bit too easy, but the call was made anyways. Altidore also played the whole 90 minutes and looks to be nearing full fitness that was questioned while on international duty. He will try to score for the second straight game next Saturday in New England.

Altidore (international duty) will start in Saturday's game against the Union.

Altidore was dismissed from the US Men's National Team for not being up to fitness but he'll still start for Toronto on Saturday. He could be extra motivated to prove otherwise, although there's a real possibility that he won't be playing the full 90.

Altidore was removed from the USMNT Gold Cup roster Monday and will be available to play Saturday against Philadelphia.

Altidore's return will be a big boost for Toronto, who continue to be without Michael Bradley because of the Gold Cup. Altidore has six goals in 12 appearances this season and still seems to be working his way back to match fitness following a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
