Espindola (knee) will return Saturday against the Rapids as a starter.

Espindola has been off the field with a strained knee but the recent international break allowed him to return to fitness. However, there's a possibility he won't be allowed to play the full 90 Saturday, which would limit his value as he looks to avoid further injury.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Espindola (knee) wasn't listed on United's 18-man roster for Sunday's game against the Red Bulls.

Espindola was actually considered probable to play Sunday but he apparently failed a late fitness test as he continues to deal with a sprained left knee. His next opportunity to play will be against the Rapids on Sept. 12 while Nick DeLeon starts Sunday.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Espindola (knee) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Red Bulls, Steven Goff of The Washington Post reports.

Espindola sat out the last three games with a sprained left knee but he's returned to training and seems to be in line for a comeback. He almost always starts when healthy, so a direct return to the starting XI alongside Chris Rolfe and Alvaro Saborio is not out of question.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Espindola (knee) is planning a return to training sometime next week, Steven Goff of The Washington Post reports.

Espindola will miss Saturday's game against the Earthquakes as he won't be able to return until Aug. 30 against the Red Bulls. In the meantime, Chris Rolfe and Alvaro Saborio will shoulder the load of D.C.'s attack with Espindola still nursing a sprained left knee.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Espindola has been diagnosed with a sprained left knee and will miss the next 10-14 days, Steven Goff of The Washington Post reports.

Espindola missed this past weekend's game against the Impact after suffering the sprain during Friday's training session. He's definitely going to miss Thursday's game against NYC FC and will likely be a game-time decision for the Aug. 22 match against San Jose. In his absence, Jairo Arrieta should benefit since Arrieta moved into one of the lead attacking roles when Espindola sat against Montreal.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Espindola picked up a knee injury during training and is currently awaiting the results of his medical tests, Steven Goff of the Washington Post reports.

Espindola was an unexpected scratch Saturday until it was learned that he was dealing with an apparent issue with his knee. Fellow forward Jairo Arrieta is expected to start in place of Espindola if the latter receives unfavorable test results.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Espindola isn't available for Saturday's game against Montreal.

D.C. United hasn't released an injury notice for Espindola so it appears that he's getting the weekend off to rest, unless the squad sheds further light on the reason for his absence. His next opportunity to play will be against NYC FC on Thursday.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Espindola scored a goal, took seven shots, two on goal, and attempted six corner kicks during Sunday's 3-2 win over the Union.

Espindola scored his first goal since May 2 on Sunday but probably came away from the game a bit disappointed since he sailed a penalty kick over the crossbar in the 33rd minute. Nevertheless, Espindola proved he can produce alongside the newly acquired Alvaro Saborio as both forwards combined for two goals and 10 shots.
