Modric (groin) has been ruled out of Tuesday's match against Spain.

Modric was a major doubt heading into Tuesday's match with a groin injury that he picked up in Friday's 2-2 draw with Czech Republic. Marko Rog and Milan Badelj will start in the center of the pitch in place of Modric.

Modric's availability for the final Euro 2016 group match against Spain on Tuesday remains in question, Sky Sports reports.

Modric picked up a groin injury in Friday's 2-2 draw with Czech Republic, leaving his availability for Tuesday's match in doubt. If Modric is able to return from injury, he is expected to be a key cog in Croatia's lineup. However, Mateo Kovacic replaced Modric after the injury occurred and is a leading candidate to fill Modric's playing time if he is unable to play.

Modric could miss the decisive clash versus Spain on Tuesday with a groin injury, according to ESPN.

Madrid came off in the 62nd minute of the 2-2 draw to the Czech Republic. Scans revealed no serious damage to threaten his whole tournament but he is a major doubt for that game. Mateo Kovacic came on his place and could start in his position.

Modric hammered the winner of Croatia's Euro 2016 opening match versus Turkey on Sunday on his lone shot on goal, he also added one cross and one dribble in an excellent beginning for the Chequered ones.

A poor defensive clearance fell perfectly to Modric just outside the penalty area. He took a shot immediately off the air and with a powerful volley left Volcan Babacan helpless to open the scoreline with a stunning goal. The maestro held the reins of the Croatian's midfield firmly and played at his familiar top level. While he's not the most prolific scorer in the team, his creativity could produce a fantasy outburst at any given game.

Modric put in two crosses and earned an assist from a pair of key passes in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Roma.

The 30-year-old had a relatively quiet match, but he made a large contribution in the 86th minute by setting up Jese for a crucial second goal. Modric has just two goals and four assists on the season, but he has heated up of late, with a goal and two assists in his last four matches. He will look to continue his recent uptick in production Sunday versus Malaga.

Modric had five shots as Real Madrid tied 0-0 Saturday with Malaga.

Modric was in excellent form against Malaga but failed to make the breakthrough that his side desperately required. Apart from a high shot tally, the Croatian delivered eight crosses and completed 95% of all the passes he attempted. The midfielder has had a slow start to the league campaign but now seems to be growing in confidence.

Modric produced a good all-round performance Saturday as Real Madrid beat Granada 1-0.

Modric was one of several players who had a goal denied by the excellent form of Granada goalkeeper Andres Fernandez on Saturday. The Croatian took two shots in the game and produced a game-high number of six crosses but couldn't register a goal or assist. He stayed on the field for the enitre 90 minutes however as Real held on for a narrow win.
