Modric picked up a knock and had to be subbed off in the 79th minute in favor of Alvaro Medran.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti did not give any further details regarding the injury after the match, but Modric is considered an injury doubt for Wednesday's Champions League match against Liverpool at Anfield.

Modric picked up an assist and took one shot during Real Madrid's 5-0 rout of Athletic Club on Sunday.

Modric has scored a goal and assisted on another in his last two league games, a solid output for a player who tends to play a little more defensively. He's been able to creep up a little more this season thanks to Toni Kroos, although he's still unlikely to be a double-digit goal scorer like so many of his teammates. That being said, he could fall into double-digit assists passing to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, and James Rodriguez, among others.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Modric scored his first goal of the season in Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Villarreal on Saturday.

Modric is a vital piece for Real Madrid, but his fantasy value is a bit limited given his role. While he'll likely fall into a few assists with the incredible weapons around him, he's likely not headed for double-digit goals this season.

Modric set up Gareth Bale's 30th minute goal during Real Madrid's 5-1 Champions League victory over FC Basel on Tuesday.

Modric doesn't get involved in the attack as much, but he does now have two assists in his last three club appearances. With so many goal scorers on the pitch with him, he should certainly fall into a fair number of assists this season despite playing a more holding role.

Modric set up Gareth Bale's 11th minute goal during Real Madrid's 4-2 loss to Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Modric plays primarily as a holding midfielder, so he doesn't produce a ton a lot of goals, although he has been able to grab a few assists here and there, especially since he's surrounding by such incredible talent all over the pitch.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Modric has signed a new contract with Real Madrid that will keep him with the club until 2018.

Modric has fit in seamlessly at the Bernabeu, but he doesn't offer too much fantasy value now that he's not operating as far forward on the pitch. The 28-year-old Croatian midfielder has already made 67 league appearances in two seasons with Real Madrid.

Modric did not make the trip from Los Angeles to Oakland to face Inter Milan on Sunday in the Guinness International Champions Cup, Marca reports.

Modric will stay back and focus on fitness work, although there does not appear to be any injury that he is dealing with that will prohibit him from being ready for the start of La Liga.

Modric (foot) is hoping to be fit when Croatia take on Cameroon on Tuesday, reports the BBC. Modric injured his foot in Croatia'a first match against Brazil, but scans revealed no significant damage.

Modric is key to Croatia's survival out of the group stage. However, his play does not lend itself to much fantasy success, as he has not scored in international play since September 6, 2011.
