Modric was influential from start to finish Sunday as Real Madrid tied 0-0 with Sporting Gijon.

Modric produced an excellent performance but it was not enough to earn Real all three points. The Croatian had a game high pass accuracy of 94.3% as he dominated midfield, while he also had two shots on goal. Modric missed much of the tail end of last season with a knee injury but based on this display it is vital that Real make sure to keep him fit.

Despite struggling with injury for a decent portion of the season, the midfielder has still been recognized as Croatia's biggest star for another year. Modric was influential for Real this season before suffering a knee injury against Malaga.

It will be a huge blow for Real to lose one of its most influential midfielders with so many vital games coming up. Modric suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain on his right knee and could even be a doubt for the Champions League final on Jun. 6 if Real were to make it.

Modric was a bit off the boil against Eibar but it barely affected his team. He managed to produce five crosses and one shot but never looked particularly threatening. The Croatian was eventually replaced by Lucas Silva on 60 minutes.
