Modric played 88 minutes Sunday as Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Barcelona.

Modric looked decent enough but struggled to imprint himself on the game. He was involved in the majority of passing moves however and only team-mate Toni Kross complted more passes in the game than he did. The Croatian also had one shot and produced two crosses before being replaced by Lucas Silva.

Modric featured Tuesday for the first time since injuring his thigh in November as Real Madrid lost 4-3 to Schalke in the Champions League.

Modric was brought on as a 58th minute substitute to get his first playing time of 2015. He replaced Sami Khedira and looked very comfortable but was guilty of conceding possession to Klass-Jan Huntelaar who struck to score the game's winner.

Modric (thigh) has been named to the squad for Real Madrid's Champions League match against Schalke on Tuesday, ESPN FC reports.

Modric suffered his thigh injury back in November and could be a huge help for a Madrid side that has struggled of late. However, given the long layoff, it wouldn't be surprising if he didn't start, or had his playing time limited against Schalke if he does.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said Friday that he is expecting Modric (thigh) to be available for El Clasico on March 22, but it hopeful he can return before then.

Modric has been sidelined since suffering the injury while on international duty in mid-November. He is scheduled to return to full training next week, a big positive development, though he's still a ways away from regaining match fitness.

After initial thoughts that he may just be out a month, Modric will be sidelined for three to four months with a torn thigh muscle, ESPN FC reports.

Every manager's nightmare when his players leave on International duty, Modric tore a thigh muscle for Croatia in their Euro 2016 qualifier with Italy. Isco and Sami Khedira will surely see more time now with Modric sidelined.

Modric could be sidelined for up to five weeks after picking up a knock in Croatia's match against Italy on Saturday, Football Espana reports.

Modric will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, but the injury certainly isn't good news for Real Madrid, who could be without their midfielder until the holiday break.

Modric picked up a knock and had to be subbed off in the 79th minute in favor of Alvaro Medran.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti did not give any further details regarding the injury after the match, but Modric is considered an injury doubt for Wednesday's Champions League match against Liverpool at Anfield.
