Kompany, who suffered a groin injury while playing for Belgium over the international break, started and played all 90 minutes, though he picked up a yellow card, in Manchester City's 2-1 win over Swansea City on Saturday.

Kompany's fantasy value is highly dependent on posting clean sheets, as he has no goals or assists this season, but he's gotten only three shutouts thus far, giving little return for his usually-high price in salary cap formats.

Kompany (groin) is in the starting XI for Saturday's match against Swansea.

Kompany came into the weekend a doubt due to a groin injury that he suffered during the international break, but he recovered in time to start against a decently-attacking Swansea side.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Kompany participated in first-team training Thursday and he could feature in Saturday's Premier League match against Swansea City, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Kompany did not play in Belgium's Euro 2016 qualifier against Wales last Sunday, but appears close to returning for Saturday's match. If he is unable to play, he will likely get back for Wednesday's Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said Friday that Kompany will not play Saturday against QPR due to a calf injury. "He has a calf problem," Pellegrini said. "It is not serious but I don't know if he will be ready for his international squad."

With Kompany sidelined, Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis are the favorites to start in the center of Man City's defense.

Kompany was taken off early in the second half in Belgium's Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra on Friday, but he said the injury was not serious, ESPN FC reports. "I came off as a precaution," Kompany said, who had an ice pack on his knee after the match. "Before the game, I already had a slight problem and the coach decided to take me out."

The news that Kompany had an issue coming in is news, as there had been nothing from Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini of late confirming anything wrong with his star centreback. Kompany said that he is getting ready for Belgium's next match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which certainly bodes well for his status for Man City, who face Tottenham on Oct. 18 after the international break.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Kompany registered his second clean sheet of the season during Manchester City's 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

City's defense has struggled this season, as the clean sheet was Kompany's first since a season-opening 2-0 win over Newcastle back on Aug. 17. Not that he figures in the attack much, but Kompany also has yet to score a goal or assist on one, so a majority of his fantasy value in most leagues comes from shutting opponents out. He's got a run of relatively tough fixtures after the international break, facing Tottenham on Oct. 18, West Ham on Oct. 25 and Manchester United on Nov. 2.

Kompany picked up a yellow card, but posted a clean sheet during Manchester City's 2-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Kompany doesn't get involved in the attack much, although he's been known to score on the occasional corner and set piece. That being said, his fantasy value lies in his ability to register clean sheets, which he did Sunday. It will likely be a bit tougher in Gameweek 2, as City host the high-powered Liverpool attack at the Etihad.

Kompany signed a five-year contract extension with Manchester City on Wednesday.

Kompany remains one of the elite central defenders in the Premier League and he captains a side that is expected to post plenty of clean sheets this season, especially at home.
