Kompany, who limped out of training Saturday with an injury, is in the starting XI for Sunday's match against Liverpool at Anfield.

A huge boost for City, who were quite concerned that Kompany may miss out after suffering his injury so close to Sunday's match. With such a big game, it's not surprising that Kompany made his way back, although it is certainly possible he could be left out of the starting XI for Wednesday's home match against Sunderland.

Kompany limped out of training Saturday after landing awkwardly following an aerial challenge, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Kompany is now considered a serious injury doubt for Sunday's match against Liverpool, although the club was quick to announce that he did travel for the match and that he left Saturday's training session as a precaution. It is unclear how serious the injury is, but with a quick turnaround to Wednesday's match against Sunderland, Kompany could be in line to miss multiple games.

Kompany scored in the 89th minute of Manchester City's 5-1 drubbing of Tottenham on Wednesday.

Kompany's goal was his third this season, and matches his Premier League season-high, which he set back in the 2011-12 season. As long as he's healthy, City's captain is one of the best around, and he'll surely be needed in next Monday's match against Chelsea.

Kompany is fit to face Cardiff City on Saturday after sitting out Wednesday's FA Cup match against Blackburn, according to Rob Dawson of the Manchester Evening News.

Kompany wasn't expected to miss Saturday's match, but manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed his availability after sitting him out Wednesday. The defender has two goals this season and has an excellent opportunity for a clean sheet this weekend.

Kompany headed in David Silva's corner in the 31st minute of Manchester City's 2-1 win over Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Kompany has now scored in back-to-back matches, already doubling his goal total from last season. The City captain appears to be fully fit again and is a solid fantasy option, especially when the Citizens are at the Etihad.

Kompany scored in the 43rd minute, but then recorded an own goal in the 69th minute of Manchester City's 4-2 win over Fulham on Saturday.

Kompany's goal for City came on a rebound after Martin Demichelis' header was denied by Fulham keeper Maarten Stekelenburg, and his own goal came on an awful clearance that you don't usually see from the City captain. He doesn't participate in the attack much, which means he has to rely on getting clean sheets to provide any fantasy value. That may be hard to come by in his next match, as Manchester City host Liverpool on Boxing Day.
