Kompany (thigh) was an unused substitute in Manchester City's 6-0 win over QPR on Saturday.

There was a possibility that Kompany was going to miss the rest of the season with the injury, and while he was cleared to play Sunday, there was very little need to force him in ahead of Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis against a toothless QPR attack. Up next is a trip to face Swansea, and Kompany could grab his spot back in the starting lineup.

Kompany has recovered from his thigh injury and could feature Sunday against QPR.

Kompany has not played since the Manchester derby on April 12, and while manager Manuel Pellegrini did not guarantee that Kompany would feature, it seems unlikely that he'd stay on the bench against QPR and sit behind Eliquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis.

Kompany is expected to miss at least two more weeks because of his thigh injury. "It's important to see how Vincent will improve in the next week," manager Manuel Pellegrini said Friday. "I think he'll be missing for at lest two weeks more -- I think then after two games, if he continues to work well, he can be fit."

Kompany has not played particularly well this season, but he's still the best centerback on the team. Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis will continue to start together.

Kompany has been ruled out for Sunday's match against West Ham, and he could miss the rest of the season, manager Manuel Pellegrini said Friday. "Vincent is injured," Pellegrini said. "It's very difficult to know (how long he'll be out). He has a muscle injury -- we don't know how many weeks. You don't know if he will be fit before the end of the season."

While Kompany hasn't had a great season, his absence will be a huge void to fill for City. Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala will likely start in the center of the defense while Kompany is sidelined, with youngster Dedryck Boyata available after recovering from a knee injury.

Kompany, who was an injury doubt because of a hamstring injury, had six clearances and one tackle during Manchester City's 4-2 loss to Manchester United on Sunday.

The CIty defense was just picked apart time and again Sunday, and while Kompany wasn't at the center of the issues, he certainly did little to help. City, who are now just five points ahead of fifth-place Southampton, will look to bounce back Sunday against West Ham.

Kompany (hamstring) is an injury doubt for Sunday's match against Manchester United at Old Trafford, manager Manuel Pellegrini said Friday.

Kompany has been a shell of himself this season, but his absence would still be a hit in a massive game for City. If he is unable to play, Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis will likely be the starting centerbacks.

Kompany had 51 passes but did not record a single tack,e interception, clearance or blocked shot during Manchester City's 3-0 win over West Brom on Saturday.

West Brom went down to 10 men just 90 seconds into the match, giving Kompany little do as City blitzed the Baggies to the tune of 43 shots, including 16 on goal. The clean sheet was Kompany's second of 2015.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini said Friday that Kompany is 100 percent fit for Sunday's match against Arsenal.

Kompany returned from a calf injury last weekend against Everton, though he was an unused substitute. Now fully fit, he is likely to start Sunday's match alongside Eliaqium Mangala or Martin Demichelis.
