Dos Santos is unlikely to play in Mexico's quarterfinal Gold Cup match against Costa Rica because of a left adductor injury suffered Wednesday against Trinidad and Tobago.

Dos Santos, who officially joined the Galaxy this week, is only expected to be out for three to five days, though he isn't going to make his MLS debut until Mexico is eliminated from the Gold Cup.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dos Santos signed with the Galaxy on Wednesday after transferring from Villarreal.

Dos Santos, will join up with the club in August after the Gold Cup with Mexico, was able to be brought in after the Galaxy used targeted allocation money to lower Omar Gonzalez's cap hit, which opened up another designated player spot. Dos Santos is an exciting player who could be a prolific fantasy producer when he joins up with the team. He's played for Villarreal, Barcelona and Spurs internationally and has been playing with the Mexican national team since he was 19.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dos Santos managed just five goals and five assists in 37 appearances this season as he struggled with injuries and inconsistency.

The 26-year-old still showed glimpses of his immense talent this year, but was simply not fit enough to string together many good performances, as he came off the bench 18 times. Dos Santos seems likely to stay put at Villareal, who will hope the Mexican playmaker can finally start to live up to his potential.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dos Santos registered two shots on goal Sunday, including the opening goal in Villareal's 4-1 win over Celta Vigo. He also picked up a muscle injury and was substituted before halftime.

Dos Santos hasn't exactly been lighting it up this season, as Sunday's goal was his first in 19 La Liga matches. He has scored twice in his last four matches in all competitions, however, so hopefully the injury is nothing serious and he can continue to build on this recent momentum next week versus Almeria.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dos Santos had a goal and an assist during Villarreal's 3-1 win over FC Salzburg in the Europa League on Thursday.

Dos Santos has been in fine form of late, as he picked up an assist in Villarreal's 1-0 win over Eibar last Sunday. However, he's still a minimal fantasy contributor, with no goals and three assists in 17 total league appearances, eight of which have come as a substitute.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dos Santos has failed to draw a league start since November, and he is still without a goal in La Liga play this season.

With such inconsistent playing time, Dos Santos, who scored 11 goals and assisted on eight others last season, is too weak of a fantasy option in most formats.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dos Santos picked up an assist in Villarreal's 3-1 win over Celta Vigo on Sunday, his second assist in as many games after picking one up in a 4-0 Europa League win over Apollon Limassol last Thursday.

Dos Santos' playing time has been fairly inconsistent this season and Villarreal haven't been scoring many goals, which has limited his fantasy upside. After scoring 11 goals and assisting on eight others in 31 league games last season, Dos Santos is still looking to open his account this season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dos Santos scored in the 48th minute of Mexico's heartbreaking 2-1 loss to the Netherlands in the round of 16 at the World Cup on Sunday.

Mexico seemed poised to reach the quarterfinals with a 1-0 lead after 87 minutes, but the Dutch incredibly scored twice before the final whistle, sending the Mexicans home in the round of 16 stage for the sixth straight time. Dos Santos will get a small break before gearing up for next season at Villarreal.
