Shea will not play Friday in Philadelphia on Friday after being suspended by the MLS disciplinary committee for a tackle delivered in this past weekend's 4-1 win over Portland, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

A tackle made by Shea on the ankles of Portland's Dairon Asprilla in the 15th minute of this past Sunday's home victory has been deemed by MLS officials as a "serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent." His suspension comes on the heels of a strong performance versus the Timbers in which he netted his first goal of the season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Shea won three interceptions and scored a goal on two shots during Sunday's 4-1 win over Portland.

The converted fullback played well in the defensive third, but he made headlines when he opened his season scoring account by smashing a shot into the top corner following a combination with Kaka. Shea's propensity to get forward makes him a solid fantasy play, as he already has a goal and an assist to his name on the young season, and he will look to continue his strong play versus Philadelphia this Friday.

Shea is expected to move back to his left back position for Friday's game against Chicago, after starting the season opener as an attacking midfielder, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Shea picked up an assist in last weekend's match, and while he won't be as close to the box as a defender against the Fire, he is still expected to be involved in the attack by advancing on the wing and sending in crosses.

Shea (groin) is available off the bench for Sunday's game against Sporting Kansas City.

Shea has been off the field since late June with a groin injury but will look to slowly work his way back into the starting XI over the next few weeks.

Shea (groin) is not in the 18-man squad to face New England on Saturday.

There was some hope that Shea would be able to return from his long-term injury Saturday, but he failed to even travel for the match. His next opportunity to play will come Sept. 13 against Sporting KC.

Shea (hernia) has resumed light training and hopes to return sometime in the next couple of weeks, Lucas Casas of OrlandoCitySC.com reports.

Shea underwent a procedure to correct a sports hernia back in mid-July and was originally given a 6-8 week timetable for a return. His impending comeback will ultimately lead to a spot in the starting XI, but the season is winding down and he'll have just a limited time to make an impact on a squad that's struggling to compete in their inaugural MLS season.

Shea could be sidelined for an additional eight weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Shea, who hasn't played since June 24 against Colorado, was expected to return sometime around the end of July, but he is now facing an absence that could reach into September.

Shea could miss up to four weeks because of a groin injury, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Shea was left off the U.S. Gold Cup roster, so he may be able to return some time in July, though he isn't likely to be rushed back until he is fully fit.
