McGeady (hamstring) is expected to return to training in the next two or three weeks.

McGeady hasn't played at all during Everton's international tour because of the injury, and given the timeline to return to training, he isn't likely to be match fit until September.

McGeady is unlikely to play Saturday at Swansea City because of back pain, manager Roberto Martinez said Thursday.

Martinez noted that McGeady will be given a late fitness test, but he was not optimistic that the midfielder would be available to play. He isn't a great fantasy contributor in most formats, so his absence isn't likely to change much.

McGeady came on in the 31st minute for the injured Kevin Mirallas in the 1-1 draw to Liverpool Saturday.

The Mirallas injury could be significant, so it seems McGeady is next in line to receive some good playing time. Look for the speedster to be in the starting XI next weekend against a poor Manchester United defense.

McGeady scored the first goal of Everton's 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.

McGeady's fine preseason form continues, as he was able to net the first goal for Everton before getting subbed off in the 85th minute for defender Seamus Coleman. Due to Ross Barkley's injury, McGeady should see plenty of starts and get a good amount of scoring chances like he did on Saturday. He had five total shots in the draw.

McGeady netted the only goal for Everton in a friendly against Celtic Vigo Wednesday.

It will be interesting to see how the starting XI looks for Everton with the influx of midfielders Everton has accumulated. With Mirallas and Barkley surely starting, McGeady may have a hard time finding a spot in the starting XI, but may be used as a super sub with his unbelievable pace and ability to put the ball in the back of the net.
