Astori was issued a yellow card and kept a clean sheet in Sunday's scoreless draw with Atalanta.

The highly-rated import from Cagliari has been a big contributor to Fiorentina's defensive record. In his six matches across all comps, he's kept four clean sheets as a part of the team's defensive trio. While he won't pile up much in the way of goals or assists—he has four goals and four assists in 236 Serie A matches—the team's ability to pick up clean sheets, particularly at home where they've yet to concede, will help boost his value.

Astori secured three interceptions and helped keep a clean sheet during Sunday's 1-0 victory over Roma.

Operating again as part of a central back three, Astori played sound positional defense to help keep a competent Roma attack at bay. He has been a crucial part of a Viola defensive unit that hasn't been breached in the last 285 minutes of play, and he will look to continue his strong play Wednesday versus Udinese.

Many Italian publications are reporting that Astori will be playing for Fiorentina this season, after spending last season on loan at AS Roma from Cagliari.

Astori has either played for or being linked with almost every major Italian club. He grew up in the AC Milan youth system. Last summer he almost moved to Lazio before a late switch to rival AS Roma. Early this summer he appeared to be moving to Napoli, but that deal was never finalized. He had then been linked with Juventus and possibly a move back to AC Milan. In the end Fiorentina won out as Astori is pretty much assured of being a starter.

The veteran center back has moved from Cagliari to Napoli after AS Roma did not pick up the option to buy the player after he spent last season with them on loan, Football Italia reports.

Napoli should have made this move a year ago and perhaps they'd be preparing for the UEFA Champions League this season. Astori is a former AC Milan youth product like new Manchester United signing Matteo Darmian. He too, has spent time playing for Italy as others have gone down injured.

The center back is expected to miss two weeks of action due to a thigh injury, Football Italia reports.

This is not good news, especially since it falls during the Champions League season.

The Roma center back has suffered a knee strain and is expected to be out for three weeks, Football Italia reports.

This is why depth is important. Astori is a key part of Roma's backline and he will be missed.

The highly regarded central defender has made a surprise move to AS Roma a day after talks broke down in a move to Roma's rival Lazio, Football Italia reports.

Astori was certainly one of the best players Italy did not bring to Brazil this summer. Some felt he belonged on the team. His presence may allow the club to once again consider selling Mehdi Benatia.
