Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that he has spoken to Gerrard about training at the team complex in an effort to return to the Los Angeles Galaxy in January, reports Sky Sports.

Speculation about the veteran midfielder making a playing return to Liverpool are premature, but it does look as though Gerrard will be a common sight at the training grounds this winter.

Gerrard may contemplate retirement following the next season in the MLS, according to the Daily Mail.

Gerrard joined the Los Angeles Galaxy on an 18-month contract, and the team failed to advance in the playoffs.

Gerrard picked up an assist in added time during the Galaxy's 3-1 victory in Colorado.

Gerrard also took two unsuccesful shots during his 90 minutes of action, thus compiling a respectable output in just his second ever MLS game. However, he passed up a shot on a breakaway that ultimately lead to a Robbie Keane goal, which poses some questions regarding his own intentions to be a pass-first or shoot-first player while in MLS. Either way, the Englishman is a starting member on a potent offense where he'll have plenty of assist and goal-scoring opportunities during the remaining season ahead.

Gerrard (undisclosed) will start in Saturday's game against the Rapids.

Gerrard missed the All-Star Game earlier in the week with an undisclosed injury but apparently was able to recover in just a few days to assume his normal role on the Galaxy.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gerrard is dealing with a muscle strain, and while he will not play in the All-Star Game on Wednesday, he may be able to play Saturday against the Rapids, manager Bruce Arena said Wednesday.

Gerrard's injury was never considered serious, particularly since there was no mention of any injury until he decided to pass on the All-Star Game. He has linked up exceptionally well with forward Robbie Keane early in his Galaxy tenure, and they are both expected to play Saturday.

Gerrard will not play in the All-Star Game on Wednesday because of an undisclosed injury.

Galaxy teammate Robbie Keane also pulled out of the exhibition game, and there is some talk that the players are fine and simply wanting to get out of the extra match in order to be fully prepared to face the Rapids on Saturday.

Gerrard scored in the 37th minute and assisted on Robbie Keane's 64th minute goal during the Galaxy's 5-2 win over the Earthquakes on Friday.

Gerrard started in a more forward position than was expected, as the Galaxy were without Gyasi Zardes and Alan Gordon because of the Gold Cup, but the Liverpool legend looked plenty comfortable up with Robbie Keane. Gerrard played 88 minutes, which was much more than expected in his league debut. He'll look to continue his excellent play next weekend at Houston.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gerrard will make his MLS debut against the Earthquakes on Friday.

Gerrard is lined up right behind Robbie Keane in head coach Bruce Arena's 4-2-3-1 formation Friday. The Englishman has generally played farther back throughout his career with Liverpool, but the Galaxy are dealing with a few absences and there's a chance Gerrard will move back in the formation when his new squad is at full strength later on in the season.
