Medel has signed with Inter Milan after transferring from Cardiff City, BBC Sport reports.

Medel signed with Cardiff for 11 million last summer and was a ever-present figure for the club during the 2013-14 season. Still, his performances weren't enough to keep the Bluebirds in the top flight, so Medel, who also impressed with Chile during the World Cup, will now make the jump from the Championship to Serie A.

Medel was credited with the assist when his free kick found Steven Caulker, who in turn found the back of the net during Saturday's 3-3 draw with West Brom.

Medel is most known as a defensive midfielder, so his assist Saturday is a bit of a surprise. Output like this should not be expected regularly from Medel.

Medel (leg) has returned to training this week, the South Wales Echo reports. Medel was expected to be out a couple of weeks but looks to be in line to make a quick return.

Although Medel does not provide much fantasy value, his return does help increase the fantasy value of the Cardiff City defenders. However, they will be faced with a tough match at Tottenham on March 2.

Medel (leg) hobbled off the pitch during Saturday's FA Cup match against Wigan with an apparent leg injury. Scans later revealed he had torn a muscle and is expected to miss several weeks before he is able to return to action, the BBC reports.

Medel's injury will not hurt many fantasy lineups, as the midfielder is known as more of a defensive specialist, but it could have ramifications for Cardiff City defenders' clean sheet chances, as well as the Bluebirds chances for remaining in the Premier League.

Medel missed the Boxing Day match against Southampton due to flu-like symptoms. Cardiff City manager, Malky Mackay, is hopeful the midfielder will be able to return for Saturday's match against Sunderland, Sky Sports reports.

Cardiff City's goal prevention benefits from having Medel in the lineup. The midfielder's excellent marking ability has been key in Cardiff City keeping five clean sheets this season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Medel has been a member of the Starting XI and has played all but one minute of Cardiff City's first seven matches this season.

Medel is known more for his marking ability than his scoring ability. Because of this he remains a low-end fantasy option that depends on gaining points through Cardiff City collecting clean sheets.

Medel is expected to go right into the Cardiff Starting XI for Saturday's Premier League opener against West Ham, the Daily Mail reports.

Medel signed a four-year contract with Cardiff only days ago, but he's fit and apparently ready to roar.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Medel is known more for his ability to shadow opposing players on defense than he is his ability to score. Do not expect much from Medel offensively.
