Gomez will not take part in Germany's World Cup qualifying matches against the Czech Republic and Northern Ireland due to muscle stiffness, reports the Daily Mail.

Gomez is expected to miss the two German matches as well as some training time, his team announced. The player has yet to score since joining Wolfsburg from Fiorentina this summer.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gomez is starting on Saturday against FC Koln.

Gomez was held out of Wolfsburg's Bundesliga opener after his recent transfer, but he trained enough over the international break to force his way into the first XI.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gomez will not be in the squad for Saturday's match against FC Augsburg, according to manager Dieter Hecking.

Gomez was the signing of the summer for Wolfsburg. The Wolves endured a tough season last year due to injuries and the addition of Champions League football. Unfortunately, Gomez will not be available for Dieter Hecking in the starting XI or as a substitute in the first match of the season. Bas Dost will likely have to shoulder the attacking work up front with Borja Mayoral, another new arrival, possibly seeing increased playing time as well.

Gomez signed with Wolfsburg on Wednesday after transferring from Fiorentina.

Gomez spent last season on loan with Besiktas and made it clear he was not going to go back to Turkey, and his prospects in Italy didn't look great either. He'll head back to Germany after a solid run with the national team in the European Championship before a hamstring injury knocked him out, but he could be an important piece of the attack this season with a number of key attackers gone.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gomez has been ruled out for the remainder of the European Championships because of a hamstring injury he suffered during the quarterfinal against Italy, the AFP reports.

Gomez is Germany's lone striker on the roster, and his absence will likely force Thomas Muller to play up front, with the possibility of bringing Mario Gotze back into the starting XI.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gomez is an injury doubt for Thursday's semifinal match versus the hosts France after picking up a knock, ESPN reports. "Mario Gomez also had muscular problems, but I think he came off early enough," Low said.

Gomez picked up a knock and was replaced in the 72nd minute of the Euro 2016 quarterfinal penalty shoot-out victory over Italy. Lukas Podolski is the only other striker available in the squad, though, Germany have a tendency to play with a false number 9 in which case Mario Gotze, among other offensive options, could be in line to return to the starting XI in case Gomez doesn't recover on time for the vital game.

Gomez scored for the second straight game in Sunday's 3-0 win over Slovakia. Gomez was effective as the striker up front for Germany as he also drew a penalty.

Gomez has two goals for the tournament, but will have his toughest test yet, going against the back line of either Italy or Spain next.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gomez rattled off five shots and scored the only goal in Tuesday's 1-0 win over Northern Ireland.

The big striker received his first starting nod of the tournament as Germany searched for a more assertive presence up top, and he was on hand to slot home an intelligent pass from Thomas Muller in the 29th minute for the goal that ultimately decided the game. Gomez's presence affords the reigning World champions another dimension when playing balls into the box, and Tuesday's performance should earn him another starting berth in Sunday's knockout phase fixture versus the third-place finisher from Group A, B or F.
