Lampard will not play in Manchester City's Champions League match at CSKA Moscow on Tuesday due to the thigh injury he picked up last Saturday against Tottenham, ESPN FC reports.

While the injury is serious enough not to bring Lampard to Russia, it's possible he could return for Saturday's Premier League match at West Ham.

Lampard had to be stretchered off in the 28th minute of Manchester City's Premier League match against Tottenham on Saturday after picking up a suspected thigh injury.

Lampard was having an excellent game for City, assisting on Sergio Aguero's first goal and then picking up a foul in the box that led to Aguero's second. He'll undergo additional scans to determine the severity of the injury, but by the looks of it, he could very well miss Tuesday's Champions League match at CSKA Moscow on Tuesday/

Lampard scored in the 87th minute of Manchester City's 4-2 Premier League win over Hull City on Saturday.

Lampard has now scored four goals in his last three games in all competitions, including two in Premier League play. He's been a surprisingly good contributor lately, with recent talk indicating that Man City will look to extend his stay through the end of January, though NYC FC have denied those rumors. Up next is a tough Champions League match against Roma on Tuesday before a return to Premier League play Saturday against Aston Villa.

Lampard came on in the 78th minute for Aleksander Kolarov and scored the equalizer in the 85th minute in Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

Lampard's goal took away two points from the club that decided not to bring him back this season, prompting his move to NYC FC and subsequently Man City on loan until January. Despite the bittersweet symphony of an event, he remains a fairly weak fantasy option given his limited playing time.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said Friday that Lampard will be a part of the squad that faces Chelsea on Sunday. "Frank is part of our squad and tomorrow, I will give the squad list for that game. I'm sure he will be involved in that game as part of the squad. I don't think it is a difficult situation for him. He didn't continue at Chelsea because Chelsea didn't want him -- not because he wanted to come here to City," Pellegrini said.

Despite a likely active status, Lampard is a fairly limited fantasy contributor with Manchester City, who he will leave in January to head back to NYC FC of MLS. Man City do not travel to Stamford Bridge until Jan. 31, which means Lampard will not have a Chelsea homecoming.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lampard started Manchester City's Premier League match against Arsenal on Saturday, but he was replaced by Samir Nasri at halftime.

Lampard isn't expected to get much playing time for City while he is on loan from New York City FC, so his start Saturday shouldn't get fantasy owners curious if he could be a cheap buy until he heads back to MLS in January.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed Friday that Lampard is in the squad to face Arsenal on Saturday.

Lampard's fantasy upside is very limited given the players ahead of him on the depth chart, and while he is only on loan until January, City have no reason to play him over their full-status players.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lampard was not in the 18-man squad for Manchester City's 2-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Lampard is with Manchester City on loan from MLS side New York City FC, and while he could make some appearances in the FA Cup or Capital One Cup, he isn't likely to make a major impact in Premier League play, if everyone ahead of him stays healthy.
