Cole limped off with a groin injury just after halftime in West Ham's 0-3 loss to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

Cole isn't expected to be out very long, according to manager Sam Allardyce. The veteran Englishman has had trouble staying on the pitch and in the starting XI this season. In 14 appearances he has netted three goals.

Cole scored in the fourth minute of West Ham's 3-3 draw with West Brom on Saturday.

Cole has moved in-and-out of the starting XI this season, so he's been a fairly unreliable fantasy option. He now has three goals on the year and no assists.

Cole came on for Matthew Jarvis in the 68th minute and scored in the 88th during Saturday's 3-0 win over Fulham.

Cole had been the subject of controversy lately, as he was furious for getting pulled just 39 minutes into last weekend's match against Chelsea. He was held out of the starting XI on Saturday but still managed to make an impact for fantasy owners who still rolled with him despite the potential demotion.

Cole has appeared in five Premier League matches since returning from his hamstring injury, but he's taken only two shots in that span and is still looking for his second goal of the year.

Cole scored in the Hammers' opening fixture against Cardiff City back on August 17 but missed the entire month of September with a hamstring injury. He took two shots against Aston Villa back on November 2 but has been fairly quiet in his limited time on the pitch since his return.

Cole gave his side a 2-1 lead in the 58th minute of their Monday night match against Tottenham, latching onto a lofted ball by Joey O'Brien to finish past Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

For a few minutes at least, Joe Cole was living the stuff of his boyhood dreams--scoring a possible game winning goal at home on a day when the club was honoring Bobby Moore. Alas, it was not to be, but as gutting as this loss was, it's hard to find much to be disappointed about in his personal performance. He'll continue to play and seems more and more like one of the more creative offensive weapons for the Hammers.
