'Boro are still awaiting the results of tests done on Maccarone's ankle after the Italian striker was injured during a friendly match on Saturday. Part of the delay comes from waiting for the swelling around the ankle to lessen so that proper assessment of the situation can take place.

Nothing is certain as of yet, but based on similar injuries, it is obvious that Maccarone will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. This does cause some concern for the club to see if he will be available for the season opener at Fulham.
