2026 Fantasy Outlook
Garrett missed the entirety of the 2025 season recovering from a UCL revision surgery which also required an internal brace in December. Garrett will be 14 months removed from surgery when pitchers and catchers report in 2026, but the last memories we have of him pitching was three impressive seasons of K-BB% with improving command. The 2024 ERA could be written off to an usustainable 60% left on base rate, but dreaming of an immediate return to 2023 production would be greedy. Garrett is more likely to come in somehwere closer to his 2022 numbers, which are good enough on the surface, but lack the volume necessary to be considered for mixed league draft day plans. NL-Only fantasy managers should take a flier in the end game. Read Past Outlooks
Flops in season debut
Garrett (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Twins, allowing five runs on four hits and five walks in 1.1 innings. He struck out three.
Analysis
Making his Marlins season debut after starting the year with Triple-A Jacksonville, Garrett didn't fare well in his first major-league start since 2024. Control was a major issue -- the left-hander tossed only 30 of his 64 pitches for strikes -- but Garrett's day could have been even worse had he not struck out Luke Keaschall to escape a bases-loaded jam in the first inning. With Robby Snelling (elbow) on the injured list, Garrett is tentatively lined up to face Atlanta in his next outing but doesn't shape up as an appealing fantasy option.

2017
The left-hander was effective in 2023 during his first full season as an MLB starter with a 3.66 ERA across 159.2 innings, but he was limited to just seven outings in 2024. Garrett didn't make his season debut until mid-May due to a shoulder issue, and he returned to the injured list a month later due to a flexor strain in his forearm. He also suffered a setback in his rehab during September with an elbow impingement, but he's still expected to be available for the start of spring training. The results aren't worth considering too much given the sample size and injuries, but he had a 34:4 K:BB and 1.19 WHIP, which helped result in a 3.81 FIP. Garrett missed time due to Tommy John surgery shortly after being drafted in 2016, but other than that he's stayed mostly healthy throughout his professional career. The persistent arm issue last year provided justified cause for concern, and Garrett underwent Tommy John surgery again in January, which will sideline him for the full 2025 campaign.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely trade chip
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Marlins have received trade interest from multiple teams for their starting pitchers, including Garrett.
Analysis
Garrett missed the first six weeks of the campaign due to a shoulder injury and surrendered 11 runs in his first two starts, but he's given up just one run in his past two outings, one of which was a complete game shutout. The left-hander threw a career-high 159.2 innings last season and had a 3.66 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 156:29 K:BB. Garrett will enter his first year of arbitration eligibility in 2025, so the Marlins should net a sizable return in any potential trade.
