Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Only Dairon Blanco, Chandler Simpson, Esteury Ruiz and Ronald Acuna have a higher Steamer 600 (if every player got 600 plate appearances) stolen-base projection than Bradfield among all outfielders, but unlike Blanco, Simpson and Ruiz, Bradfield actually brings elite center field defense to the table. Bradfield probably won't be big-league ready until the middle of the summer, but once he's ready, he'll be Baltimore's best defensive option in center field. Offensively, Bradfield is still working on turning into more than an empty batting average type of hitter (four homers in 108 games last year), but he has a good hit tool. The lefty-hitting Vanderbilt product slashed .287/.395/.396 with a 12.5 percent walk rate and an 11.7 percent strikeout rate in 27 games at Double-A. His groundball rates have generally been over 50 percent and his opposite-field rates have been north of 40 percent, with 11 of his 110 hits last year coming on bunts, so he's not showing signs of getting to more power in games. There's a downside to investing in players with very little power who will probably hit at the bottom of the lineup, but Bradfield has the hit tool and defense to potentially thread the needle for this archetype. Tweaks hamstring Sunday
Bradfield went 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs and an RBI on Sunday in Double-A Chesapeake's 12-4 win over Erie before he was removed in the top of the eighth inning due to right hamstring tightness, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bradfield previously spent more than five weeks on Chesapeake's 7-day injured list earlier this season due to a left hamstring strain, but it's an injury to his other leg that resulted in his early exit Sunday. The Orioles are viewing Bradfield as day-to-day until he undergoes further testing, but the 23-year-old outfielder looks like he could be in danger of another IL stint. Bradfield is slashing .240/.378/.356 with one home run and 13 stolen bases in 33 games for Chesapeake this season.
