Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Seymour began the season in Triple-A Durham where he once again dominated in the minor leagues, hitting in a very friendly hitting park. After 16 games with the Bulls, Seymour was promoted to the big league roster and used in a swing role the rest of the season. He pitched effectively for a rookie without a big fastball. What Seymour lacks in velocity he makes up for in location and ride, as his 91.6 mph fastball often either stays above the swing plane of the batter or looks 98.6 mph if it comes off one of his nasty change-ups. To further frustrate hitters, Seymour uses an atypical delivery, which includes a head whack that hides the ball until the last possible millisecond of the process. Seymour worked 143 innings and struck out 168 batters with 39 walks and 15 home runs allowed between Durham and Tampa. Seymour is 27 and has now worked more than 145 innings in consecutive seasons after working his way back from Tommy John surgery in 2022. He could be a sneaky late-round pick with the move back indoors and a little better luck with his LOB percentage. Read Past Outlooks

2025 Fantasy Outlook
An older lefty who turned 26 this offseason and had Tommy John surgery in 2022, Seymour dominated Double-A and Triple-A hitters in 2024 to the tune of a 2.48 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 162:41 K:BB in 145.1 innings. He actually made two starts at Triple-A late in 2021 just to keep pitching after the High-A season wrapped up. Seymour's fastball velocity isn't great (sits in the low-90s), but it's got good movement, and he's incredibly crafty. He's got a plus changeup and a quality cutter, and that might be enough to get by against big-league hitters if he can throw strikes and pitch with confidence. The Rays have a plethora of rotation options, but Seymour is on the 40-man roster and should be heard from at some point this season. Given his poor fastball velocity and relatively shallow repertoire, he'll have a small margin for error as a starter, and the Rays could opt to have him work as a bulk reliever initially.
