2025 Fantasy Outlook
Winn broke camp in the Giants opening day rotation. He managed only 12 starts before being diagnosed with a nerve issue in his elbow. He underwent season-ending ulnar transposition surgery in late July. Winn hopes to be ready for spring training, but his role is unclear. He pitched better than last season's 7.16 ERA suggests as he was doomed by a 53.4 percent left on base mark. His 4.07 xFIP and 4.26 SIERA paint a rosier picture, but a 20.2 percent strikeout rate relegates Winn to swingman or back of the rotation status. He throws four pitches, but his four-seamer and sinker are around 95 to 96 mph while his splitter and slider are about 88 to 89 mph, so there isn't much of a delta to keep hitters off balance. Tracking Winn makes sense, but he needs to prove he can miss more bats before gaining fantasy relevancy. Read Past Outlooks

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Winn made his big-league debut last year at age 25 and mostly performed well, tallying 35 strikeouts against only eight walks in five starts and four relief appearances covering 42.1 innings. But when opposing hitters made contact, it was generally hard contact, and his 4.68 ERA tells the story more accurately than his 1.04 WHIP. He had a 4.08 ERA in 108 innings between Low-A, High-A and Double-A in 2022 and a 4.81 ERA in 58 innings with Triple-A Sacramento in 2023. His command might have miraculously improved and maybe Keaton will be the rare pitcher who performs better in the majors than he ever did in the minors, but the Giants aren't guaranteeing him a rotation spot out of the gate in 2024 and the right-hander can mostly be ignored on draft day in standard fantasy formats.

Chance to enter rotation?
Winn could join the Giants' rotation with Alex Cobb being placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with an oblique injury, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Analysis
Winn has worked in long relief for San Francisco twice in the past week, and he's pitched well with just two runs allowed across nine innings. The 25-year-old hasn't been as successful for Triple-A Sacramento this year with a 4.35 ERA in 12 outings, which could prompt the Giants to keep him in a bullpen role.
