2021 Fantasy Outlook
Graham was one of the best fantasy pickups of 2019-20, as he had a breakout season out of nowhere and ended up ranking 54th on a per-game basis. However, the Hornets selected Rookie of the Year, LaMelo Ball, in the 2020 Draft, which severely cut into Graham's usage and overall effectiveness. Despite seeing nearly the same workload, Graham dropped to 113th in fantasy with averages of 14.8 points, 5.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds. He also had an abysmal field-goal percentage, shooting just 37.7 percent from the field -- hardly better than his 37.5-percent mark from deep. Graham is one of the more unique point guards in the league, as he takes just 10 percent of his shots at the rim and makes them at an awful 41 percent mark. For reference, Terry Rozier -- not exactly known for his driving ability -- took 24 percent of his shots at the rim and made them at 58 percent. Regardless, Graham will have the opportunity for a bounceback season in 2021-22. During the offseason, he was sign-and-traded to the Pelicans, who sent Lonzo Ball to the Bulls. As a result, Graham will be the Pelicans' true starting point guard. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect an immediate jump back up to his 2019-20 numbers since Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram will handle the ball plenty, but Graham is in position to improve upon his numbers from last season. He's worth an exploratory selection inside the top 100 for managers looking for upside. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio

Devonte' Terrell Graham was born in 1995 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Dewanna King. He attended Needham B. Broughton High School in his hometown, where he posted 15.7 and 5.4 assists per game as a junior on a team that went 26-6 and made it to the 4A State final. For his senior year, Graham transferred to the prestigious Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. He joined forces with Donovan Mitchell to lead the club to a 33-0 record en route to the national prep title. Graham was also part of the USA contingent that won Gold at the 2015 University Games. You can follow him on Instagram (@dtaegraham).

College/International Summary

Graham could have had a relatively anonymous collegiate career had his original plans occurred. He had planned to attend Appalachian State, but he had a fantastic senior season at Brewster Academy and led his team to a National Prep Championship. In the collegiate realm, he ended up with the Jayhawks. After coming off the bench for his freshman season, Graham became a starter next to Frank Mason as a sophomore. The two guards caused headaches for Big 12 opponents for the next two seasons. Graham concluded his sophomore season by putting up 27 points in the Big 12 Dhampionship game against West Virginia. He averaged 11.3 points and 3.7 assists as a sophomore, then 13.4 points and 4.1 assists in the following season. After Mason left for the NBA, Graham ran the Jayhawk show. He provided 17.3 points and 7.2 assists per game in 2017-18. He had back-to-back games of 35 points. Kansas advanced to the Final Four before losing to Villanova. Graham averaged 17.4 points and 5.6 assists in the Big Dance. Graham was drafted in the 2nd round, 34th overall, in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks but was then traded to the Charlotte Hornets for two second-round picks.

Graham (knee) is not listed on the Pelicans' injury report for Friday's contest against the Bulls, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Graham recorded three points, seven assists and two rebounds in 20 minutes during Wednesday's preseason win, but he was listed as questionable for Friday's contest. The 26-year-old will likely be limited during the exhibition contest, but it's a good sign that he will be able to suit up against the Bulls.

2020

Graham's third season in the league was very impressive, as he was able to lower his turnovers per game from the season prior and improve his three-point efficiency. The 25-year-old averaged 14.8 points, 5.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals. Graham made 37.7 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 84.2 percent from the free-throw line. The guard also averaged 30.2 minutes and appeared in 55 games while starting in 44 of them. One of the third-year's best games this season was against the Nuggets on May 11, as Graham dropped 31 points to go along with five assists and four rebounds. The former Kansas Jayhawk set career-highs defensively this season, with five steals in a game against the Pacers on April 2 and two blocks versus the Celtics on April 28. Graham notched three double-doubles throughout the season to increase his career total to 20 double-doubles. The guard clearly worked on keeping possession of the ball as he decreased his turnovers per game down by 1.4 turnovers from the season before. Another game where Graham went off was on April 25, as the 6-foot-1 guard posted 24 points and nine assists leading his team to a commanding victory over Boston. All in all, Graham proved his importance to the Hornets as one of the best passers on the Hornets, as he finished second on the team with 5.4 assists per game, only behind LaMelo Ball.

2019

Graham appeared in 63 games for the Hornets during the 2019-20 season. He averaged career highs across the board, posting 18.2 points, 7.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 35.1 minutes. The second-year guard shot 38.2 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from three and 82.0 percent from the free-throw line. He also set new single-game career-highs in points (40), assists (15), threes (10), rebounds (nine) and steals (four). Graham had 23 games with at least 20 points, 16 games with at least five rebounds and 18 games with at least 10 assists. He also had five performances with at least three steals and 13 performances with at least one block. Graham had 17 double-doubles. Graham's longest streak of 20-point games was four contests from Mar. 5 through Mar. 11. During that stretch, he averaged 26.0 points on 18.0 shots, 7.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 rebounds in 37.2 minutes. Graham's longest streak with seven-plus assists spanned six games from Dec. 22 through Jan. 4. At the end of the regular season, Graham ranked eighth in the NBA in total minutes played (2,211), fifth in total made three-pointers (218) and fourth in total assists (471).

2018

Devonte' Graham spent his rookie season between the Charlotte Hornets and their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. Graham played 46 games for the Hornets and started three times. He averaged 4.7 points (on 34.3 percent shooting) and 2.6 assists in 15 minutes per game. He also shot 28 percent from behind the arc. Graham scored a season-high 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-6 from long range, on Apr. 3 against the Pelicans. He scored in double digits eight times throughout the season, including a stretch of four games straight from Dec . 28 to Jan. 5. Graham had a season-high nine assists on Mar. 24 in Toronto. He finished the contest with 10 points, nine assists, three rebounds and two steals, which was arguably his best performance of the season. Graham tallied at least three assists on 20 occasions. He gathered four rebounds on two occasions. Graham flashed enough upside during his rookie season to possibly take on a larger role in 2019-20, especially if the Hornets lose Kemba Walker to free agency.

Sophomore slump? Far from it. Graham made a strong case for Most Improved Player in his second season, seeing his scoring balloon from 4.7 points per contest as a rookie to a healthy 18.2 in 2019-20. The Kansas product attempted three times as many shots as he did in his rookie season, though that noticeable increase in volume did not come with a decline in efficiency. Graham enjoyed career highs in shooting by posting 38.2/37.3/82.0 splits and made a name for himself as one of the league's most prolific three-point shooters. Graham's 3.5 triples per game ranked seventh in the NBA, and he was one of only eight players to knock down 200 shots from beyond the arc. His 7.5 assists and 3.4 boards were career highs as well, showcasing his ability to contribute as more than just a scorer. If he can take another step forward in 2020-21, Graham could be a top-40 player. He'll have more competition for usage this season, however, as the Hornets added LaMelo Ball in the draft and signed Gordon Hayward in free agency.
Graham spent most of his rookie season going back and forth between the Hornets and their G League affiliate in Greensboro, but he ended up being a quality contributor for Charlotte for a large portion of the season. He appeared in 46 NBA games, making three starts and averaging 4.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists across 14.7 minutes per game. He did that while shooting 28.1 percent from behind the arc and 34.3 percent from the floor overall. In his three starts, however, Graham saw 26.9 minutes per game and his numbers grew significantly as a result, as the point guard posted averages of 9.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists while shooting 40 percent from three. Now, heading into his sophomore season, Graham should be in line for a more consistent role in the team's backcourt following the departure of Kemba Walker to Boston. While Terry Rozier is essentially a lock to be the starting point guard after signing a lucrative deal with the team this offseason, Graham, as of now, is the team's most reliable option to back him up. Should Graham secure that role, he will likely see some boost in production across the board in 2019-20.
Graham, after four seasons at Kansas, was drafted by the Hawks with the 34th overall pick in the 2018 Draft, but then dealt to Charlotte in exchange for two future second-rounders. During his senior campaign, he was named Big 12 Player of the Year on the back of 17.3 points, 7.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per tilt. He also hit 2.8 threes per game at 40.6 percent. Graham showed off his passing ability during summer league, averaging 6.0 assists in 25.9 minutes, but failed to knock down a three on 12 attempts. Considering the presence of Kemba Walker, Tony Parker and Malik Monk, it seems unlikely Graham will be able to make a significant Fantasy impact during his rookie campaign.
