Horschel
announced via X that he will undergo surgery on his right hip next week and likely miss the rest of the 2025 FedExCup season.
ANALYSIS
Horschel was forced to withdraw a couple weeks ago from the Zurich Classic. After consulting with doctors and members of his team, Horschel thought surgery was the best course of action for his career. It's unfortunate considering he was off to a decent start to the season with a pair of top-10s and four top-25s in 12 starts. The 38-year-old said that he would likely return by late summer/early fall. With the FedExCup Playoffs starting Aug. 7, that's likely an unrealistic return date. Sitting 59th in the FedExCup standings and only the top-70 making the playoffs, it's extremely unlikely that Horschel will qualify playing no more events. If he wants to play on the PGA Tour again this year, his next realistic chance is probably the Procore Championship Sept. 11-14 in the FedExCup Fall portion of the schedule.
