Relegated from LIV Golf league
August 17, 2025
Stenson carded a one-over 72 in the final round at LIV Golf Indianapolis to finish T27 and end the 2025 regular season 49th in the individual standings with 6.11 points.
ANALYSIS
Stenson entered Indianapolis 48th in the individual season standings, the last spot safe from relegation from the LIV Golf league. The 2016 Open champion appeared to be on track after going 12-under through the first two rounds, but Stenson fell apart in the final round with three bogeys over the first six holes. He crawled back to one-over through 15, but he failed to add a much-needed birdie over the final three holes, which allowed Majesticks teammate and co-captain Ian Poulter to sneak into the final spot in the Open Zone. Stenson could earn a spot in the LIV Golf league for 2026 by winning the Promotional Event or being signed by a team (including Majesticks), but the Swede's plans moving forward won't be known anytime soon. Stenson will join Poulter, Lee Westwood and Sam Horsfield at the LIV Golf Team Championship next weekend, which could be the final time that the current Majesticks squad play together.
