Velo earned medalist honors in U.S. Open Final Qualifying in Ontario, Canada after shooting rounds of 65-67 on Monday.

Velo's eight-under-par total was enough to hold off a strong group of contenders in Ontario that featured a lot of players who will be teeing it up this week in the RBC Canadian Open. This means Velo will be making his major championship debut next week at Oakmont. It's been a struggle in his rookie campaign on the PGA Tour with 10 missed cuts in 13 starts, but perhaps qualifying for the U.S. Open gives him some confidence for the rest of the season.
