ANALYSISCasey used a five-under 67 round Saturday to enter Championship Sunday three shots back of the clubhouse lead. The Englishman got off to a rough start with a double bogey on the par-4 first, but he was able to keep up with the rest of the field, who collectively struggled in tough conditions at Maridoe Golf Club. He did well enough to enter a four-man playoff with
Patrick Reed, Kozuma and Oosthuizen, but Casey ultimately fell short after Reed sunk a birdie putt on the first playoff hole. It was a disappointing finish for Casey, who also lost in a playoff to
Abraham Ancer at LIV Golf Hong Kong in 2024. Still, it was Casey's first podium finish of the season, and he'll look to carry that momentum into the Final Qualifier event Tuesday for a spot at the Open Championship.
